Accused Cigarette Thief Caught Outside Perry Hall Rite Aid
Police stopped a man accused of robbing the Belair Road store before the crime was reported.
Police said they caught an alleged cigarette thief outside a Rite Aid in Perry Hall, before the victims had time to report the crime.
At about 12:11 a.m. on Jan. 31, a Baltimore County police officer saw a man running from the Rite Aid store in the 9700 block of Belair Road. The officer then stopped the suspicious person, according to the police report.
The officer then spoke with store workers who claimed that the man had stolen over $73 in Newport cigarettes. The workers said he was unarmed and stole them by grabbing them and running away, the report shows.
Police then found the stolen cigarettes on the man and arrested him, according to the report.
Brandon Richard Stoll, 35, of the 8800 block of Lakewood Road in Parkville, was charged with robbery, theft of less than $100, second-degree assault and possession of paraphernalia, online court records show.
A booking photo of Stoll was not immediately available.
Capt. Michael Balog of the White Marsh police precinct commended the presence of nighttime patrol officers in the area.

Sounds like the robber stopped to take a smoke break and got caught.

Sounds like an alert officer recognized reasonable articulable suspicion when he saw a man running from a store late at night. I didn't know Rite-Aid was open after midnight. The article did say 12:11AM, if that's correct?
