Alleged White Marsh Shoe Robber Arrested

Anthony Charles Green was arrested and charged in connection with the theft of shoes from a shopper at White Marsh Mall.

Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for robbing a teenager of a pair of high-end Nike shoes at White Marsh Mall.

Anthony Charles Green, 22, was arrested on July 31 at his home in the 5400 block of Hillburn Avenue in Baltimore City. At the time he was arrested, police said he was wearing a black and brown pair of Nike Foamposites, the same pair of shoes a teenager reported he was robbed of at White Marsh Mall.

Green, who was charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft, is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

At about 7:40 p.m. on July 20, two males allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old boy in a mall bathroom, pushing him to the ground. One of the men then allegedly removed a pair of brown and black Nike Foamposit shoes, valued at about $220, from the boy, according to police.

They also tried to steal the victim's cell phone, but were unsuccessful, a police report shows.

At the time, the man leading the robbery was described by police as a black male, between 18 and 20 years old, about 160 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing an orange and white polo shirt, with a tattoo on his neck and a cross tattoo between his eyes.

Police continue to search for the second suspect in the July 20 robbery, and are investigating any possible connection between Green and another robbery on July 14 where shoes were stolen from a teenager at the mall.

Perry Hall Patch editor Emily Kimball contributed to this report.

This Baltimore City resident feels he can come into Baltimore County and commit crimes. I hope he gets a longer sentence for this crime than he received for the other crimes he did, according to Md Judical Search. If Mr Green isn't stopped now, with some sort of jail sentence, he just might turn into a more violent criminal down the road.

In 2010 MD re-elected Martin O'Malley who appoints liberal judges that let these guys off easy. If you want these guys locked up start pushing the Governor and the Md General Assembly to stop being so soft on crime in this state. We need to be more like Texas!

These kind of people need to stay out of our town. I hope he gets an appropriate sentence and that it serves to show other criminals that we, the residents of White Marsh and Perry Hall, will not stand for this crime in our great town.

Truth is he will do minimal jail time. Even with priors the cost of housing him for what we feel is an appropriate will allow him to do minimal time behind bars. Truth of the matter is if more citizens were armed cowards like this this would be less likely to attack. Maryland needs to look at its handgun laws and adapt so that upstanding people don't have to live in fear of worthless people.

@Brad I am pro 2nd amendment but I would not have wanted the 15 year old victim armed. However, if some of Green's previous victims were armed maybe there would not have been a Green walking the Earth to rob this kid anyway.

Baltimore has crime every where regardless of the buses. You sound racist and unintelligent when you say that.

rob t. - Interesting that you brand me a racist even though my post made no mention of race in any way, shape, or form. Perhaps you ought to think about your views on race and the assumptions you are making...

Also, everywhere is one word.

Lastly, if you have been following the Patch for any length of time, you would be aware that I was being facetious when I made the comment about buses.

FIFA - sometimes this is too easy, right?

"rob t." - You need to spell your name properly (Rob T.). I am assuming by your very well thought out response and intellectual insight that you are a college graduate that thinks sociology is a true science? I am all ears for your knowledge...

If you have the pleasure of knowing any Judges personally, ask them why Maryland has this "CATCH AND RELEASE" program and they will all tell you, depending on how well you know them, the same thing:

"OUR JAILS ARE FULL"

I am for building more jails as long as we also build more REC-centers in the areas where kids have little to do BUT crime. There are also things that we can do with the schools. Additionally, our out of date child labor laws need to change so kids can get some work. Give them a chance when they are young. If the screw-up when they grow-up than lock them up.

Little to do BUT crime? Try libraries, parks, ball fields, ball courts, hiking trails, biking trails, free or cheap summer classes, nature centers, arboretums, swimming pools, picnics, tracks, woods...

I am sorry, but committing crimes because you have nothing else to do is ridiculous. Committing crimes is a choice.

@Evets I can show you some neighborhoods where non of that is available. The libraries closed, the rec centers closed or never there, the parks neglected and little more room than a back alley or a street corner. Grown ups can get away but kids are stuck. I am lucky to have these things for my kids here in Perry Hall. I don't know many city kids who have access to the woods and nature centers, and bike trails you speak of. The City is cutting rec programs for kids to deal with other priorities. Bottom line, keep kids busy w/positive activities and you will have less crime.

And the vast majority of the kids in those neighborhoods you speak of commit no crimes.

Arnold when governor in the most liberal state (Cali, duh) passed the building of many new prisons a few years ago. The population of the US in the past 20 years alone has grown by ~60 million. Crime has risen as well, which is expected. Even Thomas Malthus discussed this relationship in 1801 "On Population". Build more jails!

If counties approve of more jails or expanding... this seriously perks that counties population numbers = higher census numbers = more power and gov. bucks every ten years. Just saying... Allegany County rocks this stat!

@Evets You must be very confused. They start out as sweet as any other kids. Neglect a child and see what happens. If you want I can give you several zips codes you can move to with your family and your can prove me wrong.

With all do respect Bill...yes there are no libraries, parks etc. in the areas you mention that is because...they have destroyed it all ( they meaning the very children you mention). If it bothers you so much...why not envite several inner-city kids to your house to play with your kids ? Bet you wouldn't do it again !

I just want to reiterate my point that very few children in these zip codes that Mr. Howard seems so anxious to label as incubators for crime actually commit any crimes. And some children from some very nice zip codes commit crimes. Committing a crime is a choice.

All I'm saying is anyone who has lived in perryhall and is not living under a rock knows that crime is up out here. Never said you were racist, you sound that way when you make those comments. As for FIFA stop dangling from evets. Lastly, Bill obviously when some are bored they don't break the law, just come to local news sites and be facetious GAFL.

And FIFA is right. We used to ride the bus together, before we moved out here to get away from the crime in the city. Oops, another racist comment..
