APG: Booms Around Perry Hall Possible Until Dec. 7
Detonation testing at Aberdeen Proving Ground could create noise between Nov. 27 and Dec. 7.
Perry Hall residents may hear loud booms until Dec. 7, according to an announcement from the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
The center is planning to conduct large detonations between Nov. 27 and Dec. 7 and is warning neighboring communities of impending booms.
According to a statement from the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, "detonations are likely to generate sound and/or vibration" outside APG gates. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the testing may be rescheduled.
ATEC "provides test and test support services" for military and contract organizations, according to the statement. Anyone with questions may contact 410-278-1147 or 800-688-8705.
Noise caused by similar testing caused concern among community members on Nov. 19. Several residents reported on Patch and on Facebook that the sounds had upset pets and shaken homes in the Perry Hall area.
The Patch article on the booms was featured by the Strange Sounds blog that focuses on "weird sounds, earth groaning, sounds of apocalypse around the world."

It would really be nice if they just simply discontinue the detonations at APG. Period.

APG provides a lot of jobs for folks in the area.
Not in Perry Hall anymore, but where we are, we hear house shaking booms all year and our housing area is actually where future Green Berets do their last leg of training. It's interesting :)

I don't think we need to focus on terrorist. What we need to focus on is inner city violence. Lets spend the money where it belongs by getting rid of the gangs, inner city violence, guns and drugs. Boarder up and patrol there. It will never happen because again its all about money and power and the governement loves there international power. I also have a better chance at winning the lotto then this happening.
