Beverly Meyler said she's learning how to let go.

Thirty years after opening Accent Printers, she recently retired and left the business to her son Dan Meyler. Originally located along Belair Road in Perry Hall, the print shop moved to Pulaski Highway in White Marsh two years ago.

Meyler also retired from membership with the Perry Hall White Marsh Business Association after serving on the board since 1996.

She was honored Wednesday evening during the association's holiday party with an achievement award and citations from state and county government.

"At first, it was hard. I tried to make it a gradual transition," she said, regarding her process toward leading a more private life.

"I'm going to miss the clients, but it feels good," she said, adding that she plans to spend more time with her two grandchildren and go on a road trip in the spring.

Lynn Richardson, president of the association, recognized Meyler as a trusted adviser over the years.

"She was a voice of reason," Richardson said. "She always stepped up when needed. She was the epitome of balance, solution oriented and also, really, really nice."

County Councilman David Marks, Meyler's longtime neighbor, recognized her for her extensive community service and for helping to found the Perry Hall/White Marsh Town Fair.

Meyler also received a state legislative citation from Renee Smith, on behalf of state Sen. Kathy Klausmeier.

Gus Kerasiotes was also recognized during the event for his service as board director. He plans to resign from his post at the end of the year.
