Board of Ed Meeting Rescheduled, After-School Activities Canceled

Baltimore County Public Schools cited inclement weather as the reason behind the schedule changes.

As a result of inclement weather, the school system has announced that the Board of Education meeting will be rescheduled and after-school activities canceled Tuesday.

Baltimore County is under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The school board meeting, which will focus of air conditioning for county schools, is rescheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Greenwood Board of Education Campus, according to a statement from the system. Those interested in speaking at the meeting are asked to sign-up at the Education Support Services building on campus between 5 and 6:25 p.m.

Classrooms without air conditioning have been a highly contentious issue, with approximately 40 percent of county schools without. The board recently released a priority list detailing what order affected schools will be accommodated. School officials plan to discuss progress made on the issue, and how the schools were selected at the meeting.

It rained. Granted, it rained hard, but all it did was RAIN. What's next, early dismissal for ominous cloud formations?

And the kids that have to walk to and from these activities in the 45-60 mile winds and rain, guess they should form arm in arm formations and drag each other home.

After school activies, they didnt close school. Safety first.

We had wind for what 3 minutes? You act like it was Dust Bowl conditions like in the early 1900's. We were out and about and had to hunker down for what 2-4 minutes tops? Arm in arm formations? Goodness the drama of that, wow. It's sprinkling! Shelter in place now!

This meeting should be held in an unair-conditioned classroom or assembly hall.

Seems like all BCPS discusses is air conditioning. How about working on using the very generous school budget to make teaching more efficient and less expensive, rather than just more demands for money?
