Burglar Ransacks Perry Hall Home

Police responded to Dawnvale Road on Feb. 6.

Police said a Perry Hall home burglary remains under investigation.

Between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, in the 9500 block of Dawnvale Road, glass was removed from the rear basement door of a home. Multiple rooms were ransacked, and a suitcase and Bose audio system were stolen, according to Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville police precinct

It is unknown if the incident is related to any recent home burglaries in the area, Dorsey said.

Well, I've lived in Perry Hall since the early 90's. It was nice living here, but the crime is steadily increasing. White Marsh mall is turning into a zoo. It seems that there are more subsidized housing in the area now, a lot because of the imploding of the housings market and destruction of the economy. For those of us who can we are forced to move to more expensive neighborhoods that have no section 8 housing and no bus lines close to the homes. It's a sad but true realization many of us have come to know.

No, CT, the Crime is NOT steadily increasing. Look up the numbers. I've posted them before, several times. No one ever has a good response when I do, because ignorant people hate looking stupid.

I have said this before and I will say it again. It may be factual that crime itself is not increasing, however, the crime is increasing in certain areas and shifting by location. If you have 100 robberies in (just picking at random) say Towson and 5 in Perry Hall in one year and then 95 robberies in Perry Hall the next year, to the people living in the area affected by the higher numbers, crime IS increasing. I too have said this more than once and I have heard this opinion agreed upon and shared with many of my fellow Perry Hall/Nottingham neighbors.

Brenda, Don't be so shy about jumping in to make money off of some ones misery! CT is correct in that those that can will look to move away from the crime. It is very expensive to move. Crime is costing the city, and now also the county, an enormous amount of money. See how well that has worked out for Balto City. They are rapidly heading for economic doom. The county will follow. I know you just think of that as "good for your business", but there are greater issues here than you lining your pocket.

Any long-time Perry Haller knows that crime has increased here dramatically. No need to study figures.
Bus lines? There were much bus lines in Perry Hall in the '50's -'60s..and no crime as a result. Just a nice convenience. Current buses in Perry Hall aren't direct to Inner Harbor area or anywhere worth going so of no use to local residents -- only useful to people in the city who somehow have something to do on the Belair Road area of Perry Hall. Hard to believe there is enough legitimate need to warrant the bus route. White Marsh Mall has lots of bus lines and let's face it that area is a lost cause. Don't go there at night.
I can't image too many people taking a bus to rob a house. What do they do with all the loot? I've taken the bus twice. It is a horrible experience. Filled with shady, unpleasant individuals who inevitably fight with each other. (Example, an older man asked a 30-sih year old lady to give up her seat which was in a handicap area. She cursed him for the next 20 minutes. He then got off the bus. She then stopped the bus 30 seconds later and got off and chased after him. )
But no one with large bags of stolen goods. Solution anyway would be for random police checks like in Europe on the bus line, especially when there has been a robbery. All passengers should be ID'd so in the case something happens, the criminal records of those who road the bus to the area can be reviewed.

I'm not ambulance (burglary) chasing, nor do I block bust. CT said he is thinking of moving, I am just trying to provide a service. I have lived in this area my whole life and I love it. We have our issues yes, but I still believe it is a terrific place to live. I stand by my offer to help anyone who chooses to live or move from this area.
