County Helicopter Rescue Exercise Wednesday in Middle River, Kingsville
Specialized units from the Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments along with the Maryland Air National Guard will participate.
If you're in the Middle River or Kingsville areas tomorrow don't be surprised if you see what looks like a water rescue in progress.
Specialized units from Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments and the Maryland Air National Guard—called the The Maryland Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team—will be participating in a training exercise called "Operation Real Deal," according to Baltimore County public safety spokeswoman Elise Armacost.
The operation will be based out of Essex Skypark, and exercises will take place at the Back River headwaters near the beach at Essex Skypark, Mount Vista Regional Park and the Gunpowder River near Philadelphia Road, Armacost said in an email.
The helicopter rescue team, which responds to flood and swiftwater rescue situations, will practice a variety of scenarios involving multiple victims.
Back in May county police and fire used a helicopter with a specially configured hoist to rescue a Middle River man trapped on Prettyboy Dam.
