Joppa Rd. needs a sidewalk (and curbs) from Ryans Way to Honeygo Blvd. There is plenty of walking traffic on Joppa Rd. and it is narrow there. The right shoulder approaching Honeygo does not include any residential property (Baltimore County park land) so there should be no acquisition issues.

This is excellent news. Silver Spring really lends itself to speeding....when it's not busy, it's honestly tough to stay the speed limit. It's so flat/straight and 4 lanes.

The worst place I know of that needs a sidewalk is on Campbell Boulevard where it crosses under 95. Not only is there no sidewalk, there is no possible way to walk under 95 except to walk in the very busy road or climb over the rocks that form a hill under the bridge. (Imagine trying to do it on a wheelchair!)
Someone must have been paid off or been asleep on the job when that road was built.

Link Avenue, (the road that the Mining Co. Restaurant sits on) is in definite need of speed bumps. On a daily basis, my neighbors and I witness people speeding down our street with little or no regard for the safety of our residents. We feel it is only a matter of time before an actual person is struck. There have already been two separate accidents involving our neighbors vehicle being hit by an out-of-control driver.

Councilman Marks, is there any plan or talk about placing speed bumps on Fieldchat road? There are many kids living on Fieldchat and people absolutly fly down this road. Just in a years time there have been at least 4 accidents in which parked cars were hit by moving vehicles. The most recent just 2 weeks ago. My car unfortunately was hit on 2 separate occasions (THIS YEAR!) while parked in front of my own house. With other streets like Carlisle, which runs parallel to Fieldchat, having speed bumps many people take Fieldchat so they can speed through. Placing speed bumps on Silver Spring is a great idea, but please Mr. Marks, consider Fieldchat as a possible location for speed calming devices as well.

If many roads parallel to each other have traffic calming and one does not have traffic calming, chances are the county in their infinite wisdom, wants to route traffic down that road. Good luck on Fieldchat.

I know it's been talked about many time but Chapel needs sidewalks or something to make it more pedestrian friendly. You can't even walk in front yards because of the drainage ditches in most areas. Like Tracey - I'd love to walk my kids to school but can't.

We need side walk on Cowenton Ave. From Morning Dove Way to The Regional park, thats about 3/4 mile stretch only , which is missing and very dangerous to walk the road to park. Cowenton Ave is very unsafe raod now, mainly because it has direct access to Rt 7 , Rt 40 and I 95 and Honey Go.. Also it is a designated road for Emergency Medical Vehicles and Fire trucks. So its absolutely critycal to make the road safe. I actually communicated with Councilman Marks on 13th of April this year about this, and he said there is a plan in place already. But we have not seen any work started yet. Not only side walks, perry hall main corridors need to be converted to bike firendly. We need to put bike lanes along with side walks. There are no or little bike lanes I see around here and they lead nowhere. They suddenly disappear , which is very very dangerous.

Tim - thank you for your kind words. Joe - I will look into Fieldchat Road. In order to receive traffic calming, the Department of Public Works considers the functional classification of the road (in other words, speed bumps would never be put on Belair Road), but also the speed and volume of traffic, so their engineers will do traffic studies. Also, neighboring residents would be consulted. Roni - I don't support widening the road, but definitely agree improvements need to be made. There are three culverts on Chapel Road that need to be repaired (the worst is at Snyder Lane), and the cost would be very expensive, but it is an issue I continue to raise with the County Executive. Ultimately, it is a matter of money. Venu - the county is still acquiring right-of-way for Cowenton Avenue, but unlike Chapel Road, the project is in the capital budget and sidewalks are included.

Ebenezer Rd. desperately needs traffic calming speed bumps or four way stop signs to slow down the many vehicles that use this road. I am concerned that people will now use Ebenezer instead of Silver Spring adding to the already constant traffic.

a four-way stop sign at Kilbride road and Ebenezer would work to slow traffic and make it easier to turn left from both ways from Kilbride.

I agree with all of the above however just as Mr. Marks has said there is a budget issue and we have to wait for many of these issues to be approved. In the meantime I would like to see the police put more pressure on these speeders. I live on Joppa Rd. near Silver Spring and sometimes I feel I am on the Beltway. Radicals race this road mostly between 8 P>M> and 6 A>M>, but we still have speeders on a constant bases. Please help before more lives are lost.

in response to roni thanks for your input on chapel rd. but i'am afraid it falls on deaf ears as ihave complained about it too .baltimore county had plenty of money two years ago when they had a engineering firm do all kinds of studies on it but our wonderful councilman at the time had it taken off the books!!!
