CRIME: BMW Stolen, Valuables Taken From Cars
The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.
White Marsh
Campbell Boulevard, 5200 block, at 9:15 p.m. on July 11. A man reported he was robbed by two men who stole his BMW 325i. The man later told police he had previously purchased the car from the alleged robbers and that they told him he had underpaid them. The victim delivered payment verification paperwork to an intermediary car dealer and the car was returned.
Station Road, 5700 block, on July 8 or 9. An iPod and Pioneer car stereo were stolen from an unlocked Honda overnight. Sunglasses were also stolen from the console of an unlocked Nissan.
Perry Hall
Timahoe Circle, 3700 block, between June 30 and July 1. The lock on a shed door was cut. Nothing was taken.

This headline makes Perry Hall seem like a hot bed of crime, yet when I read the " article" there wasn't much there. I hope people don't get the wrong impression.

Hi LalainMaryland, My weekly crime log is surely not intended to exaggerate the level of crime in the Perry Hall area. I have written two stories about Perry Hall's low crime rates. Crime Rates Fall Around Perry Hall, http://patch.com/A-GP7, Police: Crime Remains Low in Perry Hall Area, http://patch.com/A-hFH9.

Just because a handful of crimes are reported in a given week, doesn't mean they didn't exist BEFORE Patch was here to point them out.
That's the dirty secret about (new) information, isn't it.
With it always comes the risk of incorrect (and straight up inaccurate) perception, and as we all know perception can equate to reality for many people.
That said, people who leave their cars unlocked anywhere are asking for stuff to be taken. I don't care where you live.

I like the crime report, and read it every week. Personally, I find it a good reminder that Perry Hall is just as susceptible to crime as any town is. We all get complacent, and that's when you could become victim to it. Good job Emily...

Perry Hall is changing...no doubt.
