Daily Perry Hall Craft Show 'Better Than the Mall'

The craft show of 60 local vendors is scheduled to continue until Nov. 27.

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood on Gerst Road, the Perry Hall Community Hall has been bustling with shoppers since Friday.

The annual Christmas in Perry Hall Craft Show will continue every day (except Thanksgiving) until Nov. 27. There are 60 local vendors participating, carrying everything from etched glass to homemade blankets to Ravens gear.

"Our prices are better than the mall, our items are unique and the people are friendlier," said fair manager Sheila Crocken.

Crocken said she sent out about 5,000 mailers to community members to advertise this year's fair and the response has already been strong.

"We had more than 75 cars outside on our opening day," she said.

The Perry Hall Community Hall is located on Gerst Road, about a third of a mile up from East Joppa Road, past New Gerst Lane.

The fair's hours are noon-5 p.m. on Sundays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m on Saturdays and Mondays.

I will be checking out the Craft Fair. I received an email recently encouraging Americans to support local businesses this Christmas instead of buying cheaply made tokens made in other countries. It had very sensible and practical ideas such as gift cards from local hair salons, hiring a local cleaning service for a day, and also suggested local craft vendors. When I received it I had already purchased three gifts and all were made in China! No more of that for me. Americans have to help each other out of this recession!
