Editor's Notes: 2 Years at Perry Hall Patch
Moving forward, let's make Patch even better.
Today marks my first two years as a Patch editor—my second Patchiversary, if you will.
Of course, we didn't launch Perry Hall Patch on my first day (we saved that for September). June 21 was a sunny Monday, and I took a train to Patch's New York headquarters. I attended meetings, asked a lot of questions and met my first co-worker (Tyler Waldman of Towson Patch). I wondered what I had gotten myself into.
I knew I wanted to create something worth reading, something that community members would invite into their everyday lives—but I also knew it would take a lot of work and a lot of help from my neighbors.
That's where Perry Hall came in.
Over the past two years, I have been welcomed and served by this community in ways that I never anticipated.
You have brought me into your homes, your schools, your businesses and your churches. You have talked to me at times of great pain and loss, as well as times of celebration. You have shown me patience and understanding and appreciation. You've read and commented on and shared the stories of our community.
I just can't thank you enough for it. I feel so fortunate.
Looking forward, Patch has so much more room for growth. There are still so many stories to tell and readers to reach.
Please, continue to tell your friends and family about Patch and the impact it has on your life. Get our daily newsletter, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, write a blog post, email a news tip, write a comment and add an event or announcement. The site is all about you.
Thank you again, Perry Hall, for a great two years!

We've lived in Perry Hall for 2 years now, so I guess when I found the Patch it was still fairly new. Congratulations on your Patchiversary!
This is a great vehicle to find out what's going on in the community, and I check it every day. I have occasionally looked at other 'Patches', and I must say I think we have one of the best. Keep up the good work!

You/We're lucky the overthrow of Armstrong bid failed.
See, Patch has this dilemma. It provides an outstanding service (most of them do) at bringing communities together and keeping us informed.
However, Emily's paid to do this. There are expenses, and this service can't be free. Eventually, Patch is going to be more and more farmed out with advertising. It's inevitable.
I do hope this project stays solvent, I definitely wouldn't know as much about my neighborhood without it.

@Tim, In the future, our hope is that Patch will be able to be supported almost entirely by local advertising. It can be difficult and expensive for small businesses to get the word out about their products and services. I don't sell the ads, but I know the readership and engagement we get on the site, the more attractive the site becomes to local businesses and the more bang for their buck they get from advertising. I have high hopes for it :)

Right, no different then...you know....a newspaper ;)
Just very localized, which is what gives the product its niche.

Thanks Emily! The Patch is great...thanks to you. The Patch shows me people care about Perry Hall. There are arguments - yes - but it is these emotions that show me people really care.
