Find a Gift for Your Type of Dad
Here are some suggestions for the perfect Father's Day gift.
Father's Day is this Sunday. Buying a gift for dad can sometimes be a challenge, but it really depends on what type of dad you have.
Mr. Fix-it Dad
- Rommel's Ace Hardware is a great place to find a gift for this type of dad. From paint to plumbing and everything in between, there has to be something dad needs. Sign him up for an Ace Rewards card and earn points toward rewards cash. Go on the website and join the mailing list and he will receive a coupon for $10 off his next purchase of $50 or more and 10 percent off storewide the first Tuesday of the month.
Sports Dad
- Great Moments at The Avenue at White Marsh has just the thing for sports dads. This store is full of baseball, football, basketball, horse racing and even more sports memorabilia. Buy dad an autographed baseball or jersey of his favorite player.
Wine Connoisseur Dad
- Swan Song Spirits has wine from Australia, France, New Zealand and South Africa, not to mention California wines and local wines as well. Find dad's favorite wine or buy him something new to try. Is dad not really into wine? Buy him a case of beer instead.
Car Guy Dad
- Advance Auto Parts has everything a car guy would want. The DIY car dad would love engine parts, batteries, oil and brake hardware. There are also plenty of accessories like cups holders, litter bags and even fuzzy dice.
Technology Dad
- The Wireless Zone will help you upgrade dad's cell phone to the latest in mobile devices like the Motorola Droid. Dad will love all of the apps. If dad is already up on the latest technology, why not get him a leather case or car charger?
Hunter Dad
- Tom's Tropicals is a great place to have dad's prize catch immortalized. Tom's offers taxidermy services for antlers, fish, birds and even big game. Dad won't have to tell fish stories when he can show off the real thing.
No matter what type of dad you have, when it comes to gifts, it's the thought hat counts. And if you're still not sure what to get him, there is always the ultra-versatile gift card.

LOL @ putting a picture of a liquor shop as what would accompany a story about Father's Day gifts. Seriously?

A liquor shop is were you would get wine for the "Wine Connoisseur Dad." What's wrong with that?

I'd consider a stretch,considering:
1) some religons disavow drinking
2) alcoholism is (or was) a serious issue with many families
Really, it is the fact that Jennifer didn't really see the bigger picture there when posting a blog and headline photo that was intended for macro consumption. Just questionable judgement.

You really need a hobby, she isn't forcing you or anybody to drink. I am sorry for those who have a problem with alcohol, but that does not mean that I ( or millions of others) can't or shouldn't enjoy it. It isn't going to simply vanish because you don't like it. Lighten up. The only questionable judgement is those who project their own personal issues onto the rest of humanity. If one has a physical, mental, religious or philosophical issue with alcohol ( or anything else for that matter) it isn't the job of the rest of the world to avoid talking about it. It's your problem, deal with it.

also, a blog, ANY blog is personal opinion. She is free to express that on her blog.

She is. Just like it's my freedom to point out it's poor judgment. She's since picked out a much better photo, something that doesn't imply anything but being a good parent.

Just to clarify: First, this is a feature article, not a blog, that I requested Jennifer put together for Father's Day. I think she did a great job. Secondly, I edited it and decided to put the photo of the wine selection as the featured photo. I understand that alcohol carries a stigma for some people, but that certainly does not keep Perry Hall Patch from listing liquor stores in our directory or posting notices about wine tasting events or, in a light holiday piece, suggesting that a bottle of wine may be an appropriate gift for a "Wine Connoisseur Dad." I apologize to anyone who found this offensive. Photos from other mentioned businesses were also posted in the photo gallery. The feature photo is now a "#1 Dad" coffee mug.
