There was plenty for children to do at the Spring Arts and Crafts Festival at Perry Hall High School Saturday. But most enjoyed the balloon animal artist.

I learned a few things about Perry Hall this weekend, covering the Spring Arts and Crafts Show at Perry Hall High School:

  1. The Gators boast some very talented guitarists. (See video)
  2. Maryland produces some truly quality artists.
  3. Perry Hall residents really like cupcakes.

Perry Hall High School PTSA treasurer and crafts festival chair Kim Forsyth said she wanted to create a a community event unlike anything seen in Perry Hall before.

"I really wanted to bring in a fun element to bring in foot traffic and excitement and I really just wanted to bring an event that wasn't here in Perry Hall," Forsyth said, "clicking in" the 503rd, 504th, and 505th festival attendees.

"I was looking for quality crafters just real artisans," she continued.

She jokingly admitted that she "trolled" Etsy.com for Maryland-based artisans, although she was more excited about adding a lineup of food trucks to the now semi-annual show.

The Flavor Cupcakery food truck—The Food Network's Cupcake Wars season 4 winner—proved easily the most popular, selling out of its award-winning wares rather quickly.

Forsyth helped create a community hub where over 500 like-minded arts lovers shopped, snacked and snapped... photos that is. So why not show us your favorite memories of this weekend's Spring Arts and Crafts Festival by adding your pics and clips to our Neighborhood Gallery.

It was a wonderful day. Many crafters, great food, and great entertainment. If you missed it this year, watch for the date next year.

This was a GREAT little community Show to do. I rarely get an opportunity to set-up in my own hometown with Amazing Photo Letters. On year, in 2011, I was able to get a spot at White Marsh Mall for the last two weeks before Christmas, and I know how much the local community enjoys my work and unique gift idea. MY art is really about personalities, and as people explore and realize how dynamic my collection is, they seek me out. I have a private portfolio, password protected, not a traditional website, since that prospect is so expensive for my style artform and creating experience. I really appreciate being invited to the High School Show!! And I too was flabbergasted at the quality and variety offered inside and outside with the gourmet food trucks!WOW Great idea. Feel free to contact me at amazingphotoletters@gmail.com to create at my home in PH or Essex. Cheers!!
