Gunpowder Falls to Host New Year's Day Hike
The free hike near Perry Hall is sponsored by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has planned a Maryland First Day Hike in the Gunpowder Falls State Park at 2 p.m. on New Year's Day.
The 2-mile round-trip "moderate hike" is open to families and individuals of all ages, according to the department's website.
It starts at the trail head near the park's outlet along Belair Road, north of the Perry Hall line in Kingsville, across from Gunpowder Lodge.
Participants are asked to bring warm clothes, sturdy shoes and water, as well as cameras, if desired. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 410-592-2897.
Dogs on a lease are welcome, the website states.
