UPDATE: Heavy Snow, Winds, Power Outages Could Begin Tuesday
A snowstorm is heading toward Central Maryland and Baltimore County, and may hit Tuesday, and BGE is bringing in 500 extra workers.
UPDATE (5:38 p.m.) A storm heading toward the Baltimore and D.C. Metro areas could dump one or more inches of heavy snow on Baltimore County, beginning overnight Tuesday.
A winter storm watch is in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday evening, including in Maryland: from Frederick to Baltimore, and Westminster to Annapolis, according to the National Weather Service.
There might be "heavy wet snow, gusty winds, possible power outtages," it states.
Meteorologist Justin Berk says there could be up to 5 inches in some areas of Central Maryland.
Meanwhile, Baltimore Gas and Electric is bringing in 500 extra workers to help with any power outages that might occur, according to a news release Monday afternoon.
Wind gusts could get as strong as 50 mph, causing outages and even preventing the company's use of bucket trucks to make repairs right away, the release states.
The regional Foot's Forecast published Monday morning announced: "This.Is.Not.A.Drill."
What's coming Tuesday for Maryland, Virginia, the Potomac River Valley, southeast and central Pennsylvania could be "the snowstorm of the year, in a powder-filled last hurrah," bringing "difficult travel, school closures and flight cancelations," Foot's states.
While Foot's calls for snow Tuesday night through Thursday morning for the larger region, the National Weather Service forecast for Baltimore County and Metro area says snow is likely Tuesday through Wednesday night.
Within the county and city, there's an 80 percent chance of rain or snow to begin Tuesday night, mainly after midnight, the NWS forecast states. And there's a 90 percent chance of snow Wednesday, and 70 percent chance of snow Wednesday night.
Check the forecast for updates.

I am more concerned about the high winds than the snow itself.

Evets,
Okay, I picked up some wine. However, we had a little bit of some other "adult beverages" on hand. Cold weather causes such things to appear in the decanters annually. :)

Because of the high wind probability there could be power outages. I heard BGE is bringing extra trucks in to be ready for any problems. Couldn't believe the Home Depots were having a run on snow blowers and snow shovels.Home Depot thought they would have to store them until next winter. Probably have them on Craigs list in the summer. I guess generators will be next if there is a big power outage. My generator is gassed up and chained to the house LOL
