Help Me Find the Best Pizza in Perry Hall

As a fairly new Perry Hall resident, I'm still hunting for the best local pizza.

As you may have gathered from previous articles, I'm a fairly new Perry Hall resident. I moved in just over a year ago from Harford County. I'm also a Maryland "immigrant," moving here from northeast Pennsylvania after graduating college about 10 years ago—my, how time flies!

One of the first things I do when moving to a new area is order pizza. I pull up the phone book—more like search yellowpages.com nowadays—and call the first local place I see. Then, over the next few months I'll proceed to try every pizza place in the area until I find "the one."

Unfortunately, this past year, I have yet to discover "the one." My not-so-adventurous husband continues to order from the same place over and over again—he is such a creature of habit!

This week, I'm hoping that you can help me in this department. If you, dear reader, would be so kind as to leave me a comment describing the best pizza in Perry Hall, I may just be able to persuade him to try a new place. If you know my husband, you know how hard this is going to be. Once we discovered Chopstix in the Honeygo Plaza I haven't been able to get him to eat at any other Chinese place since—or any other dish besides chicken and broccoli for that matter.

I know we have a Dominos, Pizza Hut and Papa John's but I'm more curious about the local places:

I realize these places have more robust menus, but I am specifically looking for the best PIZZA in Perry Hall. After all, I already have a favorite sub place

If your favorite isn't listed, feel free to chime in with a local spot that I may have missed. Nothing makes me happier then discovering a new local gem.

DeSantis! I grew up in the city, and, of course, loved Matthew's Pizza. I was pleasantly surprised, when I moved to Perry Hall, to learn that DeSantis makes Matthew's Pizza. You must try one!

I totally agree with Gina. Matthew's Pizza is legendary in the city, and DeSantis is carrying on that tradition. However for Pizza that is a little different, try Serpico's Spaghetti Pizza. It is a carb fest that tastes out of this world!!!!

I have to agree that I have yet to find the best pizza in PH. I want it to taste like the first pizza I had which was at a bowling alley at Eastpoint Mall believe it or not 40 years ago! It was when they made it fresh, and sauce and the cheese did not blend into an orange mess. The mozzerella stayed white and rested on top of a yummy sauce, the crust was thin but not so thin it drooped when you picked it up and they put fresh spices and garlic on the top.................I am still searching.

DeSantis's has some awesome pizza but like a lot of folks I like to get mine to go and theirs doesn't hold up. But DeNiros across the street has great crust, fresh ingredients, they deliver, and are always consistently awesome :)

Casa Mia's on Honeygo makes a very good pizza and good Cheesesteaks as well. :-)

If I have to buy Pizza in Perry Hall, I prefer DeNiro's as their crust is good and they are consistent in quality and service. However, having said that, I think the "best" Pizza is just a mere 10 minute drive to Essex. The place is renowned for their pepperoni pizza and it's called "Pizza John's". Yummy! Nuff said.

I like Lipscomb's pizza . They have a good carryout special: buy one large pizza and get a small cheese pizza free. They are located on Rt 7 near Forge Rd.

Just for the record, I'm trying to get over an addiction to Serpico's white pizza, the one with the ricotta and spinach and broccoli. I crave it ALL the time.

I'd agree the Matthews is really great, but if you are looking for your go to Pizza I cant recommend Dominicks enough. Not only is the crust great and sauce fresh tasting (not overly sweet or spicy), the people there are super friendly and if you pick it up its always buy one get one free, a no brainer and a great way to have breakfast the next morning.; So love the Dominicks 410-248-1090. We had people working on our house from the Eastern Shore and I treated them and they couldn't rave enough. Nothing fancy, just everything you want a pizza to be.

I don't know what all the fuss is about DeSantis' "Matthew" pizza. We kept hearing how good it was. The first time we tried the pizza was burnt and had very little taste. We thought it was just a fluke. The second time we experienced the same thing. "Must be a bad cook" we thought. However, people kept raving about it. We tried it a third time - same thing. So if you like burnt, tasteless pizza (and I assume most of the people living in the Baltimore area do since they rave about it so much) go to DeSantis and get the Matthew pizza. Otherwise go somewhere else - anywhere else.

had to laugh out loud at this. I should try Serpico's sometime. It's nearby. Wasn't impressed with some of their other meals though. Calzones were good though.
