Investigation Ongoing, Suspect Released in Perry Hall ATM Robbery

Police have released a suspect arrested on Friday, pending further investigation.

An ATM robbery at gunpoint in Perry Hall on Friday night remains under investigation. A man arrested shortly after the incident has been released while detectives review evidence, police said.

Patch first reported the robbery late Friday night.

At about 8:10 p.m. on March 30, a Perry Hall man was approached by another man near an M&T Bank ATM in the 8600 block of Belair Road. The man pointed a handgun at the victim, demanded money and fled with about $300 in cash, according to a police report.

Within minutes, police arrested a nearby man who fit the suspect description, according to the report. The man was taken to the White Marsh precinct for questioning, but was released later that night, according to police Lt. Ron Brooks.

Police are reviewing evidence and witness interviews in the case, Brooks said.

Brooks strongly discouraged anyone from using an outdoor ATM after dark, suggesting customers use an ATM inside a convenience store when necessary.
