Investigation Ongoing in Perry Hall Subway Robbery

The robbery occurred one day after an ATM robbery at gunpoint in the same shopping center.

Baltimore County detectives are continuing their investigation of the robbery of a Perry Hall Subway over the weekend, police said.

Patch first reported the robbery on Saturday evening.

At about 4:45 p.m. on March 31, a man entered the Subway in the 8600 block of Belair Road at Silver Spring Shopping Center. He asked for a cup of water, before passing a note—demanding cash and implying he had a gun—to the cashier. He then stole cash and fled toward Slater Avenue, according to a police report.

Police described the suspect as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, about 180 pounds and 6-foot-tall with a medium build and facial hair, wearing a trench coat and a ball cap, the police report showed.

Detective Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman, said the investigation is ongoing. She added there is a possibility that Saturday's robbery is connected to an attempted robbery of a Subway on April 1 in Lutherville, although the suspect descriptions differ slightly.

The Perry Hall robbery occurred one day following an ATM robbery at gunpoint on Friday night at the M&T Bank, also along the 8600 block of Belair Road in the same shopping center.

Police officials said there are no known connections between the two most recent Perry Hall robberies at this time.

I feel like I live in the armed robbery capital of the world right now or is it that we just hear more about the robberies?

The more the general public hears about the crimes and hears about how the crimals are ALL being caught and caught quickly, the better off we are. If there's a reputation of quick resolution of crimes in our area, potential criminals will choose different areas to target.

I go into the Perry Hall Subways all of the time. Baltimore Co. police are really good about watching over that area. I was shocked that this robbery happened I believe it is the first one there that I can remember. I want to thank the police department for all their presence in that area and a fine job that they do.
