Jericho Bridge Renovations To Start Spring 2013

Restoration efforts could take up to a year.

A plan to complete extensive renovations to the Jericho Covered Bridge at Jerusalem Mill Village in Kingsville will start in late spring 2013.

Kevin Sabolcik, chief of structural design for the Baltimore County Department of Public Works, said restoration of the bridge, which spans Little Gunpowder Falls between Baltimore and Harford counties, could take up to a year.

The department has posted a detour, which is attached to this article, that will be in effect during repairs.

Baltimore and Harford county engineers held a meeting seeking public input on the project in December 2011.

I am happy that we are keeping our historical landmarks. It is the only way our children will truly appreciate our past.

I'm happy they are keeping a historical landmark...they've already trashed the old Winters Run Bridge and had every intent on removing the old Hess Bridge on the Harford/Baltimore County line but were thwarted. Harford County in my opinion scores very low on the scale when it comes to preservation.

Jason,
No. The initiative, as I understand it, is to restore and renovate the existing structure. You can see more detailed plans on the county's department of public works website. http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/publicworks/engineering/struc_gen.html
