UPDATE: Kingsville, Joppa Burglaries Possibly Linked to Perry Hall

Harford County police held a crime prevention meeting outside a Joppa church on Wednesday night.

UPDATE (6:45 p.m.)—Police are investigating at least 12 recent home burglaries in the Kingsville and Joppa areas within the past week, according to Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Monica Worrell.

Harford County and Baltimore County police officials said they are investigating likely connections between these and a string of at least six similar burglaries in Perry Hall.

Most of the recent Perry Hall incidents occurred during nightime hours while residents were inside. Last week, police released a composite sketch of the suspected burglar, described as a white male with brown hair, 24 to 25 years old, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot and 150 to 160 pounds.

The Joppa and Kingsville burglaries were reported between March 28 and April 2, Worrell said, in the following areas:

  • four in the 2900 block of Valleybrook Court
  • two in the 2800 and 2900 blocks of Brockway Place
  • one in the 1700 block of Old Joppa Road
  • one in the 2900 block of Brockton Lane
  • one in the 2700 block of Jerusalem Road and
  • one in the 2700 block of Old Jerusalem Road.

Two additional burglaries were reported this week, although police have not yet released the block addresses, she said.

"Sometimes the burglars are forcing their way in, but in most cases, they're going into unlocked homes," Worrell said. "These are crimes of opportunity and we need to help people eliminate that opportunity."

Worrell encouraged residents to lock their doors and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

Starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Community Policing Unit brought its Mobile Crime Prevention Outreach Office to the parking lot of Mountain Christian Church in Joppa.

Worrell said the event is mainly planned to help educate community members on crime prevention tips.

"We have a pretty good relationship with these guys. We're happy to let them use our parking lot," said Tim Kick, building manager of the church at 1824 Mountain Rd.

Worrell said information is frequently shared between Harford and Baltimore counties, especially when a rash of burglaries appears close to the county border.

"We recognize that criminals don't make a distinction between counties, so we share intelligence," she said.

It should be noted that whilst ordering papers for sale at paper writing service, you can get unkind attitude. In case you feel that the bureau is trying to cheat you, don't buy term paper from it.

Has anyone come forth with what the burglar might be driving so we can all keep an eye out?

Our house was broken into 2 years ago. We live on Old Joppa Road. They forced their way in and broke our front door down. They must have been watching to see when we were leaving. Now we have an alarm system. They wait till this time of the year after Christmas when their are more valuables, and people get their tax refunds to spend more.

I live in Perry Hall (same neighborhood as the 6 burglaries ~Mar 25th). A man came to my door after 8pm one night soliciting: "A Free Alarm System if you agree to put an alarm system sign out on your lawn", but never mentioned a company name, and didn't have any business card or flyers or anything else on him, and was wearing a red ball cap and plain clothes. He fit the description of the police sketch pretty well (white male, mid-20s, just under 6ft tall). The first thing he mentioned was "I know you probably heard about the 6 break-ins in your neighborhood and you are not safe!". He was not pushy but when I asked for a business card or flyer, he said he didn't have anything and left quickly. It may have been the burglar casing more 'easy' houses. I called police and reported it immediately when he left. I have 7 security cameras in my house (some with night-vision - all with motion sensors), so if anyone ever comes around in attempt to break-in, I hope to get good evidence on video. And if I owned a gun, he wouldn't have a chance to get away.

All of these burglaries and yesterday, as we were taking our children into Amped Up on Rt 43, there were three, not one, not two, but three, police officers sitting in their vehicles parked side by side chatting away. Nottingham, PH, Kingsville has seen a rash of burglaries, some armed robberies and our resources are "hiding" out. This is ridiculous! I thought about calling the police, but who would've responded?! I would've gotten the same run around I did when a brick was thrown through my car window a few months ago on Belair Road, which precinct should be responding. Depends on which side of the road you're on! =/

That is the craziest thing about the County Police Dept where they divide their prcincts down the middle of a major roadway. The City Police stopped that way back in the 60's because they had officers moving dead bodies from one side of the street to the other. The City Police districts are now set up where the roadways that are the southern and eastern boundaries belong entirely to that district. The northern and western roadway boundaries belong to another district. It stops a lot of confusion about who is responsible for what. There are some other problems with our county police also that I have noticed. Before anyone gets their dander up, I am not saying that the city police don't have their problems. They do. The problem with the county police are not corruption-related, but rather policy related.
