She needs a good spanking. This is not what teens are supposed to do she could have notified her family as to her whereabouts long ago......Teens must be more responsible, it is not impossible..........

Good news but how could she put her family through this? What a shame she had to do this to them.

You don't even know the details of the circumstances of her disappearance, yet you are quick to judge her. You don't know her family, so you really can't assume anything. She may have had a good reason.

Another possibility is that she was abducted against her will. The article does not even say whether that happened. How about reserving judgment until you know the facts?

Teens don't run away for selfish reasons. Something isn't right with her and or her family. Especially if she did not contact them.

"How could she put her family through this?" one commenter asked. How could she put the Police through this?" is a better question. The amount of taxpayer money and police resources used to find a teenager that ran away from some dysfunctional home situation must have been in the tens of thousands. I hope that the family fix whatever problems caused her to run away and are able to keep her this time.

The police policy is to do nothing for the most crucial time period of a missing teen- the first 24 hours in case they just ran away. This saves money in the short run, costs teens lives, and probably costs more in the long run when a more broad search is necessary.

That was my first question....who's flipping the bill for this one? All us taxpayers.

The article just says she was found alive and well. It does not say whether she was held against her will. I am just glad she was found ALIVE.

I,too, am glad she is alive and pronounced well. Most situations are not so dire they cannot subsequently be worked out- if the missing person is found ALIVE. My prayers for healing for everyone involved.

More facts are needed. Was she kidnapped, runaway, abused, spoiled rotten, or just goofy? If it was due to no good cause then she should be made to pay some restitution to the county for the search efforts. Taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill if she just volutarily left without cause.

It always amazes me when I read comments like this. If the child would have been found butchered, everyone would be crying, "If only we could have searched, faster, better, longer" etc etc. No expense would have been spared and we all would have been devastated to find out she had been harmed or abused. Now that she's been found, let's drag her publicly through the coals. No amount of speculation should be given to what was sadly a public situation to try and help find her, to a wonderful conclusion of her being found safely; now a private matter. If the police decide that there has been any misuse of any funds, I'm sure they will deal with it. For now, I'm grateful that for once, we have found out this young lady is home safe. May whatever separated her from her family bring them peace and get them help if they need it so it won't happen again. Our society is so sad.

I am also glad she was found safe. Who knows what goes on in the mind of a 16 year old girl? We should not be rushing to judgement as to why. Hopefully, the family will heal. How many of us just cringe to think about what we did as adolescents?

Who knows what the exact situation is with this girl. If it's family related and she just tried to run away from it all, that's unfortunate and hopefully they can begin to work am towards a resolution. If she was taken against her will and was found safe that is quite remarkable and the family should be very grateful.
One thing is for sure, she is very lucky to be home now and well. As you can see this could have turned out very differently because there was that hand and later body found of the young man found dead in Reisterstown. Same area she was from and both were reported missing within days of each other.

I know this family well and for many years, they are a wonderful loving family, they do not spoil her, and noone knows if she was held against her will. Please stop all the hate, with cost to tax payers, cost to police. I'm sure if this was anyone's daughter or grand child or family member they would be just as fearful and concerned. Alive and well does not mean she intented to run away or be held against her will, or that no harm came to her. People need to just be thankful a missing child is found and not spew hate. This family's prayers have been answered, she is alive. It is not always the case for many unlucky families.

I dont know the family as you do, but I agree with your sentiments about the online speculation. It is a real asset to have media sources get the word out on missing children. Disparaging, speculative, permanent comments about a child and his/her family could have a chilling effect on others who are considering contacting the media for widespread support, which would be a real shame as even a minute in the press could save someone's life. The internet can be a very valuable tool in locating missing individuals.
