New Street Lights Coming to Ebenezer

More lighting is planned for the Perry Hall roadway this fall.

The 4700 block of Ebenezer Road is darker than residents are comfortable with—but likely not for much longer.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company plans to install two new street lights at the corner of Ebenezer Road and Kilkea Court, and between 4704 and 4706 Ebenezer Road, County Councilman David Marks announced.

The "250 watt high pressure sodium fixtures" could be installed by BGE between September and November, according to a statement.

They have already been approved and funded by the county at a cost of about $2,000 each, according to Marks.

Resident Gita Veskimets reached out to Marks about the need for more lights. Veskimets then gathered signatures of support in an agreement with the Department of Public Works.

"I would like to thank the County Executive's office and the Department of Public Works for their assistance getting these street lights, which should have been installed decades ago," Marks stated in the announcement. "The lights will hopefully improve public safety along an otherwise-dark corridor in Perry Hall."
