The White Marsh and Parkville precincts—which share jurisdiction over Perry Hall—are now posting lists of major crime incidents on the Internet, Baltimore County police announced.
Updates from White Marsh, Precinct 9, can be found at www.baltimorecountymd.gov/precinct9, and updates from Parkville, Precinct 8, can be found at www.baltimorecountymd.gov/precinct8.
Police events, crime prevention tips, police fundraisers, planned road closures and accomplishments by officers may also be posted, Elise Armacost, a county police spokeswoman, stated in the announcement.
"Like many public safety agencies across the country, Baltimore County's police and fire departments recognize that citizens want access to news affecting their own neighborhoods," she stated.
Armacost also encouraged county residents to access the fire department Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/BACOfiredept and the county's emergency management feed at www.twitter.com/BACOemergency.
Police are also using the Internet to assist residents in reporting minor crimes.
Offenses that can be reported include:
- Lost property
- Abandoned motor vehicles
- Hit-and-run accidents (not involving injury)
- Destruction of vehicular property
- Destruction of other property
- Theft from a motor vehicle
- Other theft
The online forms can be found at http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/police/onlinereport/.
