Dozens of third graders belted out Christmas carols Thursday night during the Perry Hall Improvement Association's 21st annual holiday tree lighting ceremony.
Community members packed Perry Hall Elementary School's auditorium for the music program.
Jamee Paterniti, whose daughter Emma performed, said her favorite song was "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
"It's a nice way to start December," Paterniti said.
Santa Claus made a cameo appearance during "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," before distributing treats and assisting PHIA president Dennis M. Robinson, Jr. in lighting the tree in the school's front lawn.
"We have a lot of great events here in Perry Hall, but this really epitomizes the small town feel that we have here," Robinson said. "If you're not feeling that holiday spirit after listening to third graders singing those holiday songs, there's something wrong with you."
Principal Donna Bergin said the event brought together Perry Hall residents, even "those who don't have kids at the school."
"It's important for us to support the Perry Hall Improvement Association ... it's a strong community partnership," Bergin said.
