---

Shots were fired during an armed robbery at a Perry Hall liquor store Saturday afternoon, police said.

At about 12:15 p.m., a man, armed only with a knife, robbed the Liquor World on the 9600 block of Belair Road, said Sgt. Benjamin Yohe, a Baltimore County police spokesman.

The store owner then "engaged the suspect" and "some shots were fired during the exchange," Yohe said. The spokesman could not confirm who fired the shots. He also did not specify what was stolen from the store.

No one was injured and no one had been arrested as of 1:30 p.m. Detectives remained on the scene as of 1:40 p.m., he said.

This was the third armed robbery reported in the Perry Hall area over the past two days.

On Thursday night, Tobacco Stop in the Perry Hall Square Shopping Center was robbed and on Friday afternoon, the Rite Aid on Belair Road was also robbed.

Hopefully the store owner shot the guy when he engaged. Please followup on that part of the story. We need property owners to defend their property against this scum.

Scott Shellenberger will probably pay more attention to charging the store owner with discharging a firearm. How dare him try to defend his property!

If the robber was armed with only a knife, ill presume the owner had the gun. Good for him. More people need to take a stand against criminals

I have a tremendous regard for our police officers and think the Perry Hall area is generally a very safe community. However, this incident is the latest in a series of very recent serious crimes that is starting to look like a pattern. I will be following up with the White Marsh precinct and encourage residents to attend the upcoming PHIA meeting where Captain Balog will speak.

Yes, I was just thinking of how much more uncomfortable this meeting is going to be for Captain Balog. Might be nice if they catch someone at some point.

Councilman, perhaps you could consider hiring the reknowned Wyatt Earp. Mr. Earp will bring law and order to Perry Hall, and hell will follow with him.

The robber brought a knife to a gunfight. Not too bright

This is just one of the reasons why I moved out or PH several years ago. I could see the writing on the wall, for what once was a nice community. Gutter snipe inner city thugs were over whelming the community with crime. You might as well change the name to Perry Hall City.

Not suprised at all. PH has been changing for the worse for over a decade now. Keep putting your heads in the sand and deny what the root of the problem really is.

Then why are you reading our Patch Jay. I suspect that there is crime in your neighborhood too; however, I am concerned that there have been three robberies in about 24 hours, two of which were armed and no one has been caught yet.

This article was emailed to me by a former resident, Christie. Sorry to disappointment you, but where I live, there is next to nothing as far as crime is concerned. Perry Hall City, an area full of crime ridden thugs.

Perry Hall is still safe...most of the crime you hear about is going on EVERYWHERE! The problem with the area is that Bel Air Road is the gateway to Baltimore City...just like any other main roadway, it has many problems. I commend the White Marsh Police for having a pretty good crime clearance rate, from what I am told. As far as the owner shooting the bad guy, good for him!!!

Definitely looks to be a pattern being established. The Rite Aid almost across the street one day and the Liquor store the next day ... who is next? I wonder how many witnesses were around.

Well the rather obvious trend is they (if it's multiple criminals - I have no idea) are hitting low population stores. Easy in and out, locations that don't necessarily have the best cash management policies.
It is amazingly brazen that they'd hit a liquor store at noon on Saturday though. Clearly, they have no or little fear of the 9th precinct PD. That's what I take from today's event.

How about a description? Tall, short, white, Asian, black, etc, you know the sort of information citizens can use to protect their selves. As this is a fine example of the fact that the police cannot protect you and one must protect themselves. However if the owner did fire his shots while the suspects were fleeing outside he violated the cardinal rule of one's life must be in danger to use deadly force and I would not be surprised if he is charged with something.

Wake up people and start voting in to office people that will give your 2nd Amendment rights to beable to protect yourself. Remember a gun in the hand is better that a police officer on the phone.
