---
Police responded to an armed robbery at a Perry Hall Pizza Hut late Saturday night.
At about 11:30 p.m. on April 28, two men—one armed with a handgun—entered the restaurant in the 8600 block of Belair Road. They stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, according to Baltimore County police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. No further details were available as of Sunday morning.
At least two additional armed robberies occurred in the same shopping center last month. On March 30, a person was robbed while using the M&T Bank ATM, and on March 31, the Subway restaurant was also robbed.
Why do you think robberies are happening at this shopping center? Tell us in the comments.

I wonder if they have cameras in the parking lot - seems like this is required equipment these days.

A shot gun under the counter could have fixed that problem. Keep trying to take guns from law abiding citizens and this is just the beginning of the problem. Statistics show when everyone one has a gun, crime drops substancially.

Oh, yes, a great idea to let the teenagers behind the counter use a shotgun...

I wonder who will be next since they think this is an easy mark in that area ....

I hate to say it but I strongly believe it's because White Marsh police spends more time engaging in racial profiling than protecting our merchants & being vigilant in essential crime areas.

As someone that works in the area, I am curious to know if they have cameras inside the restaurant? Is this something you can find out Emily?

Mylosha were you a poor victim of racial profiling? Seriously get real. The Polk e can only do so much with what they are given to work with and what they are allowed to do. One citizen complains about one little thing and the police can't be police anymore.

That end of the parking lot where these merchants are located is very dark at night. Perhaps some bright lighting would deter some of these robberies. It's just a real shame... Hope these thugs are caught!!

That shopping center has always been a targeted one. Multiple robberies over the years. I think it's the proximity to Belair Road to get away.

I live right behind the Mars/Pizza Hut. I think cameras and more lighting would be the first step. If that doesn't help, the second step, would be to hire a security guard to walk the area. Can Perry Hall Community Association help out with that?

Just one more reason to get rid of paper currency altogether. This way if you want to steal money you have to be educated enough to hack into a bank account not just wield a gun and scare people.

I think that several of us should call the White Marsh station and request more police presence. Secondly, Emily, was the restaurant open at the time of the robbery? There should be cameras in the parking lot as Chief Johnson has mandated them for shopping centers.

Actually Kat, I'm a nearby business owner & I witness a lot of racial profiling. I never said I was a victim ok genius! Anybody that wants to be honest about it knows White Marsh police tend to spend more time targeting & demeaning minorities rather than striking a balance with actual law enforcement & public safety.

There are two people named Kat commenting on here. Mine is the second comment, not the first.
These robberies alarm me as well as I live in the neighborhood. As a business owner don't hesitate to contact the police and let them know you would like more patrol cars to come through that area. I volunteer at the White Marsh station and there are caring officers that will respond. You could also present your concerns at the monthly community resource meeting at the station.

There definitely is some truth to your comment Mylosha. However, the black community in this state needs to change their culture for the better instead of blaming their problems on racial profiling. The gang violence going on in Baltimore, Overlea and leaking up Bel Air Rd is atrocious. There is a crisis in the black community right now with abortions and out-of-wedlock births at rates much higher than the national average and continuing to skyrocket. I'm tired of these disingenuous, fake reverends like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson leading the AA community down the road of destruction while they fill their pockets inciting division and hatred.

I would like to know why people find it so easy to throw out there that the police "racially profile", can you give me an example of how the cops at the White Marsh precinct do this?

Look at the differnece between the juries in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. The majority of the time, Baltimore City juries let the criminals off because they believe the police are racist to arrest their black brothers. I only hope these criminals are charged with crimes in Baltimore County and go before a Baltimore County jury. I hope Baltimore County residents continue to be vigilant and report crimes. My wish is these criminals are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The cops are right around the corner every day. They are writing speeding tickets on Silver Spring rd. day and night. Maybe they could take a break and look for a little crime. Nah never mind just sit there with your free donuts and coffee and keep taking more of what the people in this state already don't have...

Maybe if people could drive worth a crap in this state, perhaps the police could be allocated differently.
I love all the rage about ignoring the terrible driving habits of this state. Believe me, if you're going to be a terribad driver, speed and drive irresponsibily with your phone glued to your ear, then I and many others would be happy to see people like you leave the state.
it's not our fault if your stupid enough to fill this state's coffers due to your poor driving. It's YOUR fault.

I agree with Tom....unless police are on Silver Spring or Joppa ticketing 'speeders', you can't find them. I live behind this shopping center too....last time I called police for something, it was 20 min for response. At that point, personal property and physical damage was done due to a fight/brick to car action. A kid on my soccer team works at this Hut....scary stuff.

@dragonfly....I don't know specifics on the profiling....but I've been pulled over twice in last year, once on a red light lottery, which resulted in search....neither of which are 4th amendment compliant. This idea of running tags indiscriminatly is not right....esp. when u base a search from it and it was dmv who was in wrong. Couple this sort of activity with profiling...u get what we have now....6 cars on silver spring responding to illegal alien with expired tags.

I think a lot of you are giving the police less credit than they deserve. I worked overnights for over a year in the area and the police stopped in every single night to check up on us and the other businesses in the area. They do a lot of patrols in the areas at night too. When the Walgreen's was robbed they sent an officer down the road to make sure that we had not been robbed as well. They take far more care of the people working in the area then a lot of you seem to realize. They can't be everywhere at once though, so why not help them out and report suspicious behaviors rather then just complain about what they aren't doing.

Definitely agree. The PD can't win. People dont want to pay for more.
Then they don't want 'speed cameras' catching their horrific driving. They say "I want police writing the tickets".
Meanwhile, we see text tears about how 'horrible' the state of White Marsh Mall/Avenues are (which is categorically false), and why police aren't there. So they put officers there.
So they start writing tickets. Now you hear the crying about it, and how the PD can't stop every single crime in process. News flash folks: If they were able to stop every crime, it'd require more of a 'police state' - things many of you have had multiple canaries over (in other threads).
I could pull other examples. Our local police force is pretty good imho. They solve a lot of crimes.
Bottom line, half the people who post on threads like these are old, insufferable and impossible to please.

Evets: Arrogance is called confidence when you can actually back it up intellectually.
I'll make you a deal.
I'll continue being a good driver and not being concerned about where cameras are, or aren't. I'll also continue fully appreciating the efforts of the BCPD.
You just continue being bitter.

Seriosly, I am sick of hearing about "racial profiling." If certain people didnt commit many crimes and act inappropirately than this wouldnt happen. This happens because people often live up to stereotypes (thats why they exist). Of course, this is not true for everyone and every stereotype... I think many people that have grown up in this area, like myself, have noticed a change for the worse. I live behind the pizza hut also and this REALLY scares me. How do we change this? First, I think stopping public transportation to the mall would help, but I dont know how to tackle this. I cant understand why this is happening in our area... Also, I think the police in our area do a great job with what they can.

After reading all these comments, what is interesting to me is people complaining about "profiling" but yet they turn around and "profile" the police as donut-eating, racial-profiling, speed-chasing morons. Individual cops are as different as any other group of people: some great, some good, and some not so good.

The "heyday" of Perry Hall, as a safe family community, ended a long time ago. Many we know ran from the area years ago, as they could see the writing on the wall. As soon as our mortgage is done...two more years...we're out of here also. That's the only way we'll be able to sell low and move fast. Just too close, and with too easy of an access, to high crime areas. This is only going to get worse around here.
