Ive been hearing people whining about a Trader Joe's or a Wegmans or other such Gucci grocery store along the strip...for anyone who has paid the very least bit of attention, this is not going to happen. We are lucky ANYBODY wants to come there, because obviously it isn't a lucrative area and more forward thought ( beyond the obvious same few chain stores) is needed here. Otherwise the blight will continue

Way to focus on the minutia of my post...All of these stores have been approached (Wegmans, Whole Foods, Trader Joes's) and all have declined. I see people screaming and jumping up and down about this, but you have to look at the reality...these stores have business models which made them successful they also have marketing departments. If they do not feel that a move to ANY area fits into those models, they will not move there. This has been firmly established. Gucci (or not) is not even close to the point. Furthermore, focussing on one empty plot (which is one among hundreds) is a further waste of time. The bigger issue is that there is far too much empty retail space along BelAir Rd, ( yet we had to have more at Schroeder Ave). This is a bad thing, it needs to be fixed, and it won't be unless there is a reason for a business to go there that benefits both community AND business. This problem is going to require some "outside the box" thinking and will not be solved by simply transplanting the same few businesses there. Councilman Marks has made this a priority and is doing everything he can to make it happen, but he needs community input other than demanding a specific grocery store.

If you do not know why they are coming, then you clearly have not been paying attention

i don't think we need a another gas station ,we have seen in the past bp was right across from safeway and one went out of business,i don't want to see that happen again and besides we already have two gas stations in the area less than quarter mile from easy other.

royal farms is a bit more than just a gas station. they are open 24hrs. and have made-to-order food as well as odds and ends you can pick up. although i'm not so sure perry hall needed another gas station/convenience store, it does offer a few extra conveniences than other local gas stations. plus royal farms tends to have good prices on gas in harford county and along route 40, so hopefully the same will be true at this location.

the only thing i'm concerned about is the lack of space at this location. most other royal farms locations seem to take up quite a large amount of space which doesn't seem available at this shopping center.

I am sorry but i think they should of built a kodak fotomat there. I think all this digital camera stuff is a fad and dropping off film and waiting a week to pick it up will make a comeback. you watch.

Melody Merry, please tell us more about the " undesirables" you speak of... Who might they be?

I welcome Royal Farms. They are competitive in their gas prices. Maybe we can get some gas price wars in the area and bring the cost of gas down for all of us. Rather than complain about what our community does not have, support who we do have and maybe more businesses will see the potential in our area.

'Undesirables'.....those are those folks who 1) look different than Merry Melody, 2) or come from a city neighborhood unrecognized by MM, and 3) may exhibit sub culture attitudes differing from the mainstream. Wake up. Welcome to America. Makes me wonder how MM would react to a tenement house in nyc in early 1900's. Love royal farms! And I love tripe in my Chinese too.

America was founded by groups of "undesirables" banding together...we have sadly lost that trait and want everyone to be the same beige person...I believe that is called fascism, which we fought 2 world wars to defeat.

I wish there was a Panera Bread in the shopping center where Outback is.....It would be great with lots of parking and we wouldn't have to drive so far and wrestle with parking at the Towson store or the traffic at White Marsh......it would also give employees of the shopping center another choice for their lunch/dinner....Charcoal Deli and Village sub closed....how about Subway? Look how Joppa Rd & Goucher Blvd has spruced up!,,
