Scenes of Perry Hall's Industrial Backdoor
Cinematographer Daniel Regner cataloged Perry Hall's "little niches."
Daniel Regner was a skateboarder with an artist's eye.
In 2010, he returned to his childhood home in Perry Hall after gaining a degree in cinematography from Stevenson University. That December, he revisited many of the "little niches" he first discovered while skateboarding—this time, armed with a camera.
In Perry Hall Square Shopping Center and other shops along the Belair Road corridor, Regner found an "industrial looking backdoor."
Photos from his shoot were loaded onto his Flickr account, where Patch recently discovered them.
Regner, now a Baltimore resident and cinematographer for Storyfarm New Media, said the community's influence on his work was significant.
"It wasn't the city and it wasn't the country—it was almost a hub for everything. Everything I wanted to explore was close," he said. "I gained a well-rounded approach to life in that area."
What do you think about this alternate view of Perry Hall? What are some of your favorite lesser known parts of the community? Tell us in the comments.

I find the pictures to be very intriguing. I live within a block or two of just about every photo featured here. I recognized each subject, without having to look to see where they were taken. I enjoy seeing someone else's prospective of the community I have called 'home" for my entire life. While the dumpsters have come and gone, and some of the businesses have closed or relocated, the doors of Perry Hall Elementary remain the same as the day I "graduated" in 1987.
