If there were a prize for most creative holiday marketing in Perry Hall—it might go to Classic Chimney Sweep & Services at 9119 Belair Road. 

For the past month, a very sooty Santa has greeted passersby from atop the business. 

A sign reads "Help Keep Santa Clean." 

Worker Ralph Boarman said this was the first year they propped Santa on top of the house and it required building a "contraption" to hold him up.

Mainly, it's a reminder not to fire up your chimney until it's been properly cleaned. "A lot of people only build fires on Christmas, and they wait way too long to get it check out," Boarman said. 

Improperly cleaned chimneys can lead to chimney fires and excess smoke inside of homes, he said, and apparently, they can also get Santa awfully dirty.
