I think the individuals that lied on the entry form should be made to pick up the bill for all the extra police time, clean-up and should be held accountable for their lack of patriotism on the one day that we should celebrate as one and not divide us. In addition, the committee needs to get a better system in place for future parades. The committee should have also taken the float out of the parade before it even started.

However, its the dishonesty of those who oppose Obama...or any other GOP candidate that rubs this independent voter raw. I just wish people would get over the anger they have for having lost in 2008. The organizers of the July 4 Parade should have pulled the float given the fact that its owner was dishonest about its intended theme. Hatred against African Americans is still as American as Apple Pie. The organizers facilitated and allowed them to celebrate their hatred.

If I recall correctly the application stated it was "an antique vehicle". So, in fact it is an antique farm vehicle, no different in fact than the farm tractors, horse-drawn wagons, or any other "antique vehicle". Additionally, and more importantly factual, the political statement made as an expression of free speach is no more, or less, out of line with all of the politicains who promote their points in every parade in America. Will you in the future request a picture of the signs and points of view of each and every entrant? I very seriously doubt that. I've read most of the posts in this enormous thread and the thought just occurred to me....if this "float" was so objectionable, why didn't the parade organizers pull it at the staging area(the beginning of the parade). It seems to me that it was only a problem when those that have a problem with free speech started raising hay.

I'm not agreeing with the float, just curious, would you have felt the same if it were anti-Bush? I do believe the 4th of July should at least be the one day we are all united as a country.

The float was in bad taste and continued a pattern of "Obama-hatred" that is unparalleled in American history. That being said, the First Amendment protects free speech. It was not illegal. It was free speech. We have to be consistent if the Union is to work just like Chief Roberts held fidelity to the law, not politics last week. Something can be disgusting and still legal. The parade organizers could have shut it down before it got started if it violated parade rules. They apparently were not watching the gate or figured to let it go.

It would have been wrong for the parade committee to restrict them however given the predominate ruling party demographic of the parade locality,oppressive attitude and hold on free-speech and PC nonsense, that is prevalent under the obama regime, it is highly probably that the committee would have declined the request.

I think it is a very gray area. I know why they didn't put what their float would be about, but there is a fine line there. If it is okay for people to promote a politician or for the politician be there themselves, why is it not okay for one to be against. I get it that it is supposed to be a family parade, but how much of a free country can we be if it is deemed okay to do one, but not the other. It seems like people are more criticized for being anti-Obama than they have been with any other president and I don't quite get it. Typically (like in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA) the organizors and committees go by and visit the float sites to make sure they conform. It is obvious that this organizer wants credit for the parade bu doesn't man up to not doing her job correctly. Actually during this 3 1/2 years, the country has maintained the longest stretch of unemployment since the Great Depression. That is a FACT. Do you think the long-term unemployed are happy with his term. While you mentioned it, how about listing some of the facts at to policies that this administration has put in place to help the economy? The defenders use the laughable "he saved the US auto industry". Saved? Used public money to prop up GM, whose stock is now selling at $20 a share which means the US public is in the hole $35 billion for that one company alone. All of the boondoggles with energy companies (Solyndra, Nevada Geothermal, etc.) that have recieved hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and then failed. I could go on for quite some time but the fact is (and supported by real facts) this administration has done nothing positive for the working people. The Recovery Act, Health Care Financing and everything else has been nothing but increasing the debt while creating programs that don't achieve their goal. The Wide Receiver program during the Bush administration was a joint program between the US and Mexico. It was discontinued 2 years before the current administration started Fast and Furious where Mexico was never even informed. The 300 weapons used during Wide Receiver were fitted with tracking chips. Over 1400 arrest were made during this program and all but 30 weapons were recovered. No deaths were connected to these weapons. Only two weapons out of over 2000 used in Fast and Furious had a tracking device and one of those devices had a battery good for only 48 hours. The current administration did not inform Mexico of the program and had no intention of tracking these weapons. Over 150 of the F&F weapons were found at murder scenes including the deaths of 2 US agents. The entire program was nothing but a anti-second amendment ploy by this administration which had made numerous prior false statements about the majority of firearms found in Mexico had come from the USA.

Any individual irregardless of race or gender would not be qualified to run a nation with as little practical experience in the private and public sector as what this president has. His practical experience in the private and public sector include as short stint as a Community Planner in Chicago for a reported $12,000.00 a year for around 2 years and then to Harvard Law School. After law school he went to work for a Chicago law firm and in 2003 a fund raiser was thrown by a Chicago businessman in order for Mr. Obama to run for the U.S. Senate. After less than one term as a U. S. Senator he was elected as President. Think about that, this man was thrown into the most important job in the world with less than four years of government experience, and a very limited amount of experience in his chosen field of law. You have to ask, Who is really in charge? This is comparable to taking a 3rd. year office supervisor in a major corporation and promoting them to president of the company.
