PHOTOS: Baltimore's Royal Connection at Perry Hall Library
The Friends of the Perry Hall Library's second speaker series presentation drew a crowd this week.
Special thanks to the Friends of the Perry Hall Library for submitting photos of the second event in the Perry Hall Library's speaker series, held June 4.
Zippy Larson, an animated speaker and downtown tour guide, discussed the Baltimore years of Wallis Warfield Simpson, the American divorcee who chose to marry King Edward VIII of Great Britain, leading him to abdicate the throne.
She was the second speaker to appear during the Friends of the Perry Hall Library's first-ever speaker series. See a video from the first presentation, which featured a real-life crime scene investigator, here.
On Sept. 20, Rafael Alvarez, former Baltimore Sun reporter and writer of "The Wire," is expected to speak in celebration of the Perry Hall Reading Group’s 10th anniversary.
What do you think about the series? What are some of your favorite local cultural events? Tell us in the comments.

Great line-up of speakers! The soon-to-be 80-year-old Zippy Larson was an interesting and motivational speaker about her life and Wallis Simpson's. I commend the Friends of the Perry Hall Library who are a dedicated support group. Our community is fortunate to have these friends who give to the library in so many ways and offer learning experiences for the community-at-large. The librarians at Perry Hall Library did a fantastic job by creating displays with a huge number of books on Wallis Simpson and other subjects of British history.
