PHOTOS: SUV Strikes Perry Hall M&T Bank, Bricks Fly
Clean-up outside the Belair Road bank continued past 1:50 p.m.
The Perry Hall M&T Bank drive-thru sustained serious damage Tuesday afternoon, when someone literally tried to drive through it.
At around 1:20 p.m., outside the bank at 8675 Belair Rd., a grey Ford Excursion SUV, driven by an adult female, struck a brick pillar connected to the drive-thru area, Baltimore County police confirmed. Pieces of brick and concrete flew off the pillar and caused serious damage to the front of the vehicle.
No one was injured and investigators believe the incident was caused by driver error, police said.
The bank closed briefly following the accident, but immediately reopened in the lobby area, bank management said.
The drive-thru remained closed and clean-up continued past 1:50 p.m.

Do we have to put speed bumps in the drive-thru's, too?

How about those spring-loaded curbs/chutes like they have at the go-kart tracks... LOL

Driver error. Shocker. Put down your phones, terrible Maryland drivers.
Glad no one was actually hurt, besides someone's ginormous gas guzzling monstrosity.

Tim you got that right. We have a law about cell phones and driving. However, every day I see ding-bats and dumb-wads talking and driving.
I am so glad she hit the bricks and not a child or someone. Amen for that.

A law that can only be enforced if the person is breaking another law (i.e.: cell phone use while driving) is no law at all.

Evets: Completely agree, the current laws are an absolute joke. Sad fact is, it was painful enough to get this wrist slap legislation through - and at the time I researched the votes for/against. It wasn't a partisan centric issue. Neither party wants to take real responsibility for the safety of the population.
It's far too uncomfortable for their re-election bids.

There is actually a bill being introduced in Annapolis that would make it a primary violation, $500 fine, and 1 point.

Skeptical it'll get passed, but here's hoping!

My guess was the brick pillar jumped out in front of them... ;-)

Excursion is a big one. At least she didn't hit it dead center, but almost did! Daggum men, lying about yardage again.

She certainly didn't just bump into that bad boy. I'm curious as to how fast she was going.

Was the building condemned?

Doubt it - I am sure there is a steel beam inside those bricks that is able to withstand quite an impact.

I wonder if she took the bus line up, then borrowed the truck?

I drive by this bank on my way home so I decided to go around to the back of the bank to see the damage. This was around 3:30 and the drive-thru lanes were both operating, even while men were working on the brick pillar. Didn't look safe to me. I don't think I'd drive under there, but I see Evets comments about a steel beam so hopefully that's the case and that's why they deemed it safe.

SUVs don't drive into pillars.
Drivers drive into pillars.

Maybe the girl thought it was a Drive Into and not a Drive Thru.

What a wall, why is there a wall there? lol. Now she is going to sue the bank. haha im just glad no one was hurt and hopefully she slows down in the future. Too many people zipping down and in a rush. Slow down and you will see that you can get more things done.
