Police: 2 Perry Hall Home Burglaries Reported

Break-ins struck homes on Gunhurst Garth and Silverwood Court in Perry Hall.

Police are investigating home break-ins on Gunhurst Garth and Silverwood Court in Perry Hall.

Between 12:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on April 19, police believe a person entered a home in the unit block of Gunhurst Garth through a basement door, and stole computers, an Xbox, a TV and video games, according to a police report.

Between 1:50 p.m. and 3 p.m. on April 17, a homeowner in the unit block of Silverwood Court reported that a doorframe was broken, but no one entered the home and nothing was taken, the police report showed.

Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville police precinct said investigators believe the burglar did not enter the Silverwood Court home because there were barking dogs inside.

The county burglary unit is investigating both incidents, Dorsey said.

As we've seen crime increase in Perry Hall, over the last few years, we have taken steps to secure our home, as moving hasn't been an option with the poor economy. We've installed glass block windows on all basement windows, put extra locks on sliders, alway use locks on our other windows, and have had a security system installed. We are also licensed to carry firearms, and own several handguns...we have no children in the house. And, we have a dog that would intimidate any burglar. Iron gates over all windows and sliders are the only option we haven't used...to this point. I think we are only seeing the beginning of what is going to become an increasing trend.

My cat would probably show them where everything is in exchange for a bit of tuna.
