Police Charge Annapolis Man in Owings Mills Homicide

Baltimore County Police have charged an Annapolis man with murder in the death of Owings Mills resident Katie Hadel.
Jeffrey Michael Shiflett, 33, of the 1700 block of Saint Margarets Road in Annapolis, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to a Baltimore County Police press release.
He was arrested without incident Wednesday morning shortly after 11 a.m. when an officer spotted him walking on the street in the Reisterstown area, police said. He is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Police found the body of Hadel, 33, in her apartment on the unit block of Wellhaven Circle Tuesday night while responding to a domestic disturbance report. Two small children were found unharmed in the apartment, according to a police press release.
Hadel was stabbed multiple times and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
At 10:09 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Pikesville precinct were called to the scene. The door to the apartment was locked and there was no answer, but officers could hear movement inside, according to police.
The police tactical unit entered the apartment by force and found Hadel's body and the two children, the release said.
Shiflett and Hadel had a prior relationship, and police are working to determine the exact connection, they said.

Unbelievable. This guy just get releaed from the baltimore city correctional center where i worked. I think he got released two months ago. And he commited a murder already. All the time he was locked up there under my supervision as officer, he was a low profile inmate, acting like someone who want to do his time and go home. Now i think he should never been released. It saddened me to hear on the news what he did. I hope he get a death sentence.
