UPDATE (May 18, 4:25 p.m.)—A woman reported being raped outside the Dew Drop Inn in Kingsville on May 14, but now police say her story doesn't appear to match the facts.
According to a police report, the victim told police she arrived at Dew Drop Inn at about 2 a.m., when a man entered the backseat of her vehicle, cut off her underwear and raped her, before running away in the nearby woods.
But Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman, said the woman's original report does not match details revealed in the investigation.
"We have identified the man involved in the situation, and it does not appear that incident occurred as originally reported," Batton said.
She emphasized that the alleged incident does not present a threat to the Kingsville community, although it remains under investigation.
"We do not believe this was a situation where a woman was raped by a stranger," she added.
