Power Outages Delay County Recycling Collection

Residents encouraged to leave materials out until they are picked up or take them to one of three drop-off centers.

Add one more inconvenience—albeit a minor one—to the list caused by the recent power outages.

Baltimore County officials say residents can expect continued delays this week in the collection of recyclable materials and yard waste.

The delays are blamed on the large amount of spoiled food and storm-related tree debris being set out for collection in the last week, according to a statement released by Charles Reighart, the county's recycling and waste prevention manager.

Residents who find their recyclable materials are not picked up on the regularly scheduled day are encouraged to leave the materials out until they are picked up.

County residents can also take their recyclable materials to any of three county drop-centers:

  • White Marsh area - Eastern Sanitary Landfill Solid Waste Management Facility  - 6259 Days Cover Road, off 11400 block of Pulaski Hwy. (Route 40 East), Mon. - Sat. 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Cockeysville area - Baltimore County Resource Recovery Facility - Drop-Off Drive, off Warren Rd., one-quarter mile West of York Rd. and one-quarter East of Beaver Dam Rd., Mon. - Sat. 7:00 a.m. - 4: 00 p.m.
  • Halethorpe area - Western Acceptance Facility - 3310 Transway Rd., off 4500 block of Hollins Ferry Rd., Mon. - Sat., 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Tell me, does the county really recycle? I put my trash out on July 4th forgetting about the holiday. I put my recycling out the next day and moved the trash cans back a little bit and the trash truck guys took EVERYTHING! It all went into one truck. That tells me that it's all being dumped on one place, trash & recycling together! Doesn't sound/look like recycling to me!

Perhaps an accident/they were confused?

Our pickup schedule is trash monday/recycling thursday.

Is this a one off, or do they do this every week?
