Proposal Day: Share Your Engagement Story, Perry Hall

Wednesday is National Proposal Day and Patch wants to know how your proposal went, or how your dream proposal would go.

Wednesday is Proposal Day.

This one seems like it may be more dreamt up by the jewelry stores than by Hallmark, right?

Seriously though: this holiday does exist.

As Huffington Post tells it: "A man named John Michael O'Loughlin invented the holiday after his cousin's boyfriend strung her along for years without sealing the deal decades ago, Holidash says. Enough already, he thought, and dedicated a day to marriage proposals."

We'd love to hear your proposal stories—maybe it was romantic, funny or a disaster, or maybe it just hasn't happened yet. Let us know.

Did you or your significant other tie in the community of Perry Hall with your proposal?

And if you're planning to propose tomorrow, let us know, too—email sean.welsh@patch.com and we'll follow-up. We'd love to share your story—without spoiling the proposal, of course.

TELL US: Have a fun proposal story or a dream scenario for a future engagement? Share it in the comments.

Have a video or photos of your proposal? Even better! Post them above!

I convinced my girlfriend's friends to get her to throw me a "surprise" 30th birthday. It went off without a hitch. Except for one thing. The surprise was on her. I knew the date of the party, but wasn't sure where it was going to be or how she was going to attempt to pull it off. She decided to go with, "let's go meet our friends at Italian Sensations" (on Belair Road and Ebenezer). When we walked in, I was able to see my uncle in the back but pretended that I didn't see him. When I walked to the back, everyone yelled surprise, and I got to use my "you got me!" that I've been practicing all week. Eventually, I gathered everyone to thank them for coming all the way out to celebrate my 30th, and that's when I flipped it on her. She was really, really confused, then happy.. then slightly mad but got over it very quickly. Italian Sensations has a special place in our heart now. We're doing our engagement photos there. We'll be whipping up some pizzas that day..aaand the owner's birthday happens to be our wedding day. It was meant to be.

I first started talking to Lauren when I was helping with our old high school baseball team. I cut my arm and she came to my aid and wiped up the blood even though I wanted to keep it as is and look manly and have blood dripping every where. After that though we hit it off and became best of friends. A left for college and we skyped all the time, when she graduated and came to the same college. Where I finally came to my senses and realized she was the love of my life. A year later we went out and I told her we were going to go star gazing. We were celebrating our dating anniversary, and we went back to the baseball field and laid in the batting cages, I lit up a bunch of christmas lights to make the sky even more starry, but when we were about to leave I unplugged the lights on the top and plugged in the lights in the side which spelled out "Marry me?" (picture above) The lights lit up and she looked confused. She looked back at me and I was on my knee. I stumbled telling her how much she meant to me and how she was better then I could have ever dreamed. I asked her the ultimate question, she replied with a smile and one single word, "yes." And so On December 15, 2012, Lauren made me the happiest man in the world!
