Saws, Drill Stolen From Kingsville Home
Police are investigating the break-in between Jan. 14 and Jan. 15.
Multiple power tools were stolen during a Kingsville burglary, police said.
Between 5 p.m. on Jan. 14 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 15, in the 12000 block of Philadelphia Road, someone forced open the side door to a home and stole a Dewalt Sawzall, circular saw, a miter saw and a power drill, a police report shows. The total property loss represented about $1,200, according to the report.
Police urge community members to report any suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhood.

Maybe if the police werent busy shooting radar on Rapheal Road they could be patrolling the area instead. it might have detered a burglary if they see police patroling vs. sitting and shooting radar.

The problem on Raphael Rd is that it is excruciating to drive 30 mph on it. I drive down that road every morning and find I have to actually focus all my attention on the darn speedometer to do it. I look in my rear-view mirror and see a whole line of cars trailing behind me wondering why I am driving so slow (the speed limit). But I have to. I got a speed warning on Raphael for going 41. It is such a wide road, with houses so far back and spaced so far apart, that it really cries out for a higher speed limit.

Just to add, the speed trap I got caught in caught three others at the same time. The cop just motioned us all in at once. Now you know if every car on the road is speeding, then something is wrong.

I'm not in favor of speeding. I try my best never to speed. I am just saying that it is particularly hard on Raphel Road to maintain 30 without feeling like you are crawling. And the way cars pile up behind me when I go 30 suggests they feel the same way. Where you really need a speed camera is right at the top of the hill on Philadelphia just past the Gunpowder Stables. Cars whip down that hill at 60 or more and make it scary to make a left turn off Jones Road.

I should probably comment on the actual news story here, about the daytime burglaries, and say they freak me out a bit. In the past month, there have been several on Bradshaw, one on Pfeffers, and now one on Philadelphia. I work from home during the day, very close to all these streets, and I am more jumpy than usual when strange cars come down our driveway, as they often do.
