UPDATE (Nov. 4, 4:39 p.m.)—What started with the Bernie dance, apparently ended with the Bernie dance.
Perry Hall High School Principal George Roberts announced Friday in a news conference that the boys varsity soccer team would be allowed to play in the Class 4A North region semifinal game against Blake High School at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Earlier this week, Roberts canceled the remainder of the team's season after players performed the Bernie dance after beating rival Dulaney High School on Tuesday, a celebratory act that the principal believed was inappropriate.
After the was reversed, Reagan Warfield of the Baltimore radio station Mix 106.5 rounded up a group of soccer players and students outside the school and led them in performing the Bernie dance.
The Bernie dance mimics the title character in the 1989 comedy Weekend at Bernie's in which Bernie is dead and throughout the movie, his movements are directed by others. The effect is an awkward limpness. You can see it here.
Was doing the dance outside the school appropriate? Tell us in the comments.
