quess all schools now need to put metal detectors in all entrances to the schools like New York schools have. Tragic way to start a new school year off and worry for parents . Praying for a quick recovery to the student shot

People don't look out for each other. Kids aren't raised properly. Simple as that.

Generalize much? Speak for yourself. Have you even raised any children?

I wish for simplier times when we had to account for what was going on in our lives, children included. There has always been bullying, but not by todays standards. We need to be kinder to each other and watch out for each other. Or this will keep happening. What on earth has happened to our morals. I pray for all.

Another situation of bullying. This is so sad. Shooting someone is not the answer but if kids think they can keep bullying other children they just don't realize they could be bullying an unstable person. God be with the families that are involved in this situation.

We've removed Aberdeen2004's comments because it contained information that may or may not identify the actual shooter. Police and officials sources have not identified the student taken into custody and no charges have been filed.

This is awful! However, it's not surprising to me at all. I could have ( but didn't) waked into our daughter's high school ( Dulaney) at ANY time in the four years that she was there ( she just graduated in June ) and could have bypassed the office very easily, where all are supposed to be checked in prior to going anywhere in the building. I could have been carrying anything in my pocketbook or on my person. The secretaries cannot see every person who walks into the building from where they are seated, and, even of they could AND they went after someone who doesn't check into the office, I could be long gone into the building before they would be able to figure out what is happening and run after me. I had a similar and frightening experience just last week at Hopkins Hosptlal after walking into the hospital building from the parking lot across the street. I was able to initially go past the person at the desk who was giving out colored paper bracelets to visitors. I was checking a map of the building to the right of the desk and could have easily continued into the rest of the hospital without any bracelet at all. Even more frightening was the fact that I was given a bracket when I went back to the desk to ask for directions, but a bag I was carrying was never checked at all. Just think of what
could have been in that bag. I carried that bag all the way through the hospital, through the family waiting room, and then into the room with the patient.

I am a frequent flyer at Johns Hopkins Hospital and no one has ever searched any of my bags. At this point it is not necessary to search bags in the hospital. As far as the bracelets go, they are optional. I was in the Hospital and the Outpatient Center and was never asked about a bracelet.

Upon my observation of the scene I have to applaud the Police and Fire Department, the police were there in numbers both uniformed and ununiformed doing there duties. The members of swat were in positions to take the worst if it happened. The fire department and medic's and their bosses were also very active in their porformance. This county performed in a professional manner to say the least, the training and leadership truely showed. Hats off to you all for your dedication to duty our forces in blue.

My youngest granddaughter started at Perry Hall Elementary today. We will never forget her 1st day at school! Bulling must be stopped at all schools. I say abolish the teacher unions and put people in schools who know what they are doing!!

The shooting happened at 10
:43 exact. I know this for a fact because I was on my way to the bathroom from the cafeteria when this happened. I was right next to the boy who was shot. I saw everything. If Mr. Wasmer had not made contact with the shooter during the first shot, It would have been me shot. Mr. Wasmer is a true hero. Thanks to him, I am alive.

Sabrina it is a wonderful thing that you are okay. Your guidance counselor is a hero indeed! Your observation will be helpful to police as you were a witness to the crime. I pray that the whole story comes out around the nation so that bullying gets the full attention it deserves.
