Tailgates Stolen From Kingsville Car Dealership
Four tailgates were stolen from trucks at G&M Automotive Inc.
Tailgates were stolen from a car dealership in Kingsville, Baltimore County police said.
Between Dec. 17 and Dec. 29, at G&M Automotive Inc. in the 11800 block of Belair Road, a hole was cut in a fence on the north side. Four tailgates to trucks were then removed and stolen from the area, according to a police report.
Police said the investigation into the thefts is ongoing.

Why steal just tailgates? Because they can easily be transported to a junk yard and sold. No serial number on them.

It is a little odd because you won't get much for them.
Unless they are going to try and sell them on a 'black market' otherwise this strikes me as a high risk/low reward type of crime.

It took 12 days of Christmas to discover them missing?

It took 12 days to notice, because the area they were taken from is mostly a junk yard, not really an active part of the used car lost.

Depending on what tailgate it is, you'd be surprised what you can get for them. I worked at a junk yard 13 years ago and we would get over $200 for a tailgate. Whoever stole them could get $100 each for them easy. That's $400 more than they had!
