UPDATE: Perry Hall's Manhattan Grill Closes Permanently

Honeygo Village Center management is seeking a new restaurant to take its place.

After some hope that its closure may be temporary, Honeygo Village Center management is now seeking a new tenant to replace Perry Hall's Manhattan Grill

Janet Griffin, a lease administrator with Chesapeake Realty Partners, said the restaurant has officially closed permanently and another restaurant is expected to take its place. Anyone interested in leasing should contact Segall Group at 410-753-3000, Griffin said.

The restaurant closed its doors at the beginning of December. Chesapeake Realty Partners offered no explanation for the shut-down.

Megan Knauer, owner of the nearby shop Carlyn Smith Creations, said she was disappointed by the closure.

"The food was great. I'm always disappointed to see anything bad happen to a little business around here," Knauer said in December.

The restaurant's website remains live and states that it opened in 2004.

One Perry Hall resident contacted Patch after he redeemed a $25 off certificate for the restaurant on Restaurants.com, which still lists the business as open. Other residents also shared their surprise over the closure on Perry Hall Patch's Facebook page

What type of new restaurant would you like to see come to Perry Hall? Tell us in the comments.

Hopefully, an independent restaurant with different cultural foods will take that spot. I am craving a Real Latin American restaurant and a Traditional German restaurant in the area. No more Italian, American Chinese, Fake Mex, Cookie cutter Irish pub/restaurants or carry out sub shops.

I'll vote for German - especially since the Perry Hall area was known as Germantown many years ago...

German would be great, but I'm sure it will be a Rite-Aid.

Would be nice to enjoy real bratwurst, blutwurst, knackwurst, and weisswurst with home-made sauerkraut, rye bread, spicy mustard and a cold dark stout.

Maybe some schnitzel, kartoffellen, Spatzle, and Sauerbraten so it's more than a hotdog stand...

You have some of the most well regarded real Mexican food in the country in the While Marsh Mall. R and R Taqueria has been featured on the Food Network and a couple of National Top 10 lists for best tacos.

How about a privately owned real sports bar by an individual with local ties to the area. Not a food chain rest/bar. A place w decor from local area sports programs of high schools and colleges in the area. Serve simple but quality food at a reasonable price. Enough is enough with $4 domestic beers. Lets have a neighborhood pub with a neighborhood feel with affordable pricing. Lets get away from the club prices that we have seen creep up 95 to the county. Instead of raising prices on the menu for food and beverage to afford the rent and still make a profit. How about making each experience an enjoyable one and bring in a larger volume of customers enabling an owner to lower product prices without sacrificing the quality of food/service.

HAHAHAHA you sound so idealistic that its actually funny and naive at the same time. If only it was sooooo easy. Manhattan Grill sucked anyway, their food sucked, service was poor, and the entrees were way too overpriced. This is Social Darwainism, the strong survive....

Just not another half-ass fake Irish Pub.

I was saddened to learn that the Manhattan Grill closed. We always like to patronize local restaurants and was even thinking about ordering some of their great wings for Saturday's Ravens game. It is a tough job trying to compete with so many other restaurants in the area, but I would vote for a "German theme". All those great
" knockwursts" would be wonderful along with the sauerbraten. Silver Spring Station offers sauerbraten during the winter months, and we enjoy that dish! And Perry Hall was settled by many German families.

About the same time as this story first ran, there was also a story about Giorgio's closing. That too was supposed to be temporary with the shop reopening after the new year. I haven't noticed any new signs or activity down there, is there any updated info about the Giorgio's situation?

Why did Giorgio's close ? Was i a case of the landlord greed and raised the rent? They always seem to be busy and I liked there SUBS. Thats what closed the Sub Shop in the perryhall shopping center after over 40 years of business. After that long of paying rent you would think the lanlord would be proud to have a bussiness that long, no improvements to the dwelling at all.

Might be too small, but I would love to see a Looney's Pub. Their wings and steams muscles are the best !!

Lets cut to the chase...i worked there. On Dec.7th I had a job.On Dec.8th the doors were locked with this excuse the computers were down. Not only that on the 7th I was paid $460.67for payroll. That check bounced right before Christmas.Everyone received a rubber check from Tommy Tobin for Christmas. NO NOTICE,NO MONEY,NOTHING. He would not even answer a call, text or email.

Not many reporters or detectives here... Here's what I found in 5 minutes relevant to the story, not sure what of my assessment is true - but it comes from the Court Case Search... Looks like Tommy Tobin had a loan with Gerald Dotterweich (Jerry D's) which Tommy defaulted on. After several months in the court system, Tommy entered into a confessed judgment and on Dec 5, a Writ of Execution was issued, making all of the property in Manhattan Grill (up to the judgment amount) property of "Jerry D". Tommy is probably out of the country (or at least in hiding) with as much money as he could grab before leaving. Why can't more research be done on these stories before they are published??? I don't know how much of my educated guess is correct, but I gained more information in 3 minutes from public sources than I did from the Patch, come on Emily!

Had bad experience with rude waitress there and hated it ever since. Plus some guy showed up there with a gun and took a shot at somebody a few years ago when they were doing there regular dirtbag nights. Glad it closed!

This area most definitely needs food with FLAVOR a Puerto Rican/ Portuguese Restaurant would tantalize the most adventurous palates and keep them coming back for more with their families and friends in tow. There is NO other cuisine like it!!!

I would like to see a craft beer bar like Red Brick Station open in this space. The bar is usually standing room only. I love their season brews and they run a tight ship. So far, no problems and I visit a couple times a week.

I vote for a bike shop, with an area set aside for local riders to do self-repairs on their bikes. Would also be a good place for meet ups for ride starts.

Whatever they put in there, it will be hard to keep as the rents are too high for this economy.
