Emily Guilta, a ninth grade student, said she witnessed the Perry Hall High School shooting.
Sarah Erpenstein said she ran from the school cafeteria after the shooting. She was later reunited with her mother, Carol Erpenstein.

A 15-year-old boy shot a 17-year-old boy during lunch on the first day of school Monday at Perry Hall High School, police confirmed.

Emily Guilta, a ninth grade student, said she witnessed the shooting, calling it "the most traumatizing thing she's ever seen."

Carol Erpenstein and her daughter Sarah reunited along Ebenezer Road near Perry Hall Middle School following the incident.

Carol Erpenstein said: "I have a freshman who just started school today. She was scared to death to start high school anyway. She said, 'I want to go back to middle school.' She was really emotional this morning. Now she's
saying, 'I'm not going back in that school.'"

I am the girl in the back ground wearing the red. I was on my way to the bathroom from the cafeteria when this happened. I was right next to the boy who was shot. I saw everything. If Mr. Wasmer had not made contact with the shooter during the first shot, It would have been me shot. Mr. Wasmer is a true hero. Thanks to him, I am alive.
