Woman in Gunpowder Forest Possible Assault Victim

A police helicopter assisted in locating a woman, between Glen Arm, Perry Hall and Kingsville, late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Police said they are investigating a reported sexual assault that may have occurred late Tuesday night in the Gunpowder Falls State Park.

A 21-year-old woman called police after she said she awakened inside the woods, near Camp Cone Road in Glen Arm, at about 11 p.m. May 29. For about two hours, police officers and a helicopter assisted the woman in navigating the woods, until she arrived at the 11700 block of Belair Road, near the Perry Hall-Kingsville line, according to Detective Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County police spokesperson.

The woman told police that she had met a friend earlier that evening for drinks at Gunpowder Lodge, in the 10000 block of Belair Road. She then walked with the friend into the woods. She remembered another man approaching her and possibly sexually assaulting her before she fell asleep and woke up in an unknown area, according to Batton.

The victim was transported to the hospital after exiting the woods. She has since declined to participate in the investigation, Batton said.

Visiting the area where the woman was found is restricted after dusk, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Why wouldn't she participate? Date rape drug?

Maybe she thought something happened, then as she sobered up she realized that she was not assaulted and was just blackout, ridiculously drunk? At least she let it go instead of pushing for an investigation of a crime that didn't occur.

why wouldn't she participate if she was drugged? that would give her even more reason to find the man. and being drunk doesn't give license to be assulted. it sounds like they were up to no good heading into the woods at night- which is probably why she wouldn't want to participate. i hope she wasn't actually assaulted.

She: got 3 sheets to the wind, did a one nighter in the woods with the boogie man, passed out. Woke up later, lost and feeling stupid so called the cops for help in getting out. Nuff Said.

Yeah, this was my initial thought.

Going into the woods at night with a "friend" is not too smart , but then, we do tend to do stupid things in our twenties...I guess we'll never know the truth about what happened. my gut tells me she probably was drugged-slipped Mickie in her drink- may have been raped(unconscented sex) and is too ashamed, instead of feeling outraged.

I'm confused. She went into the woods with a friend....yet...another man assaulted her. What was her friend doing during all of this???
