The Avenue Continues 15-Year Summer Concert Series Tradition

The outdoor performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays between May 24 and Aug. 24.

A famous young pop star once said that she threw her hands up, as they played her song and the butterflies flew away. She nodded her head like "yeah." She nodded her hips, also, like "yeah." She had both of her hands up, as the song played, knowing that everything would be OK, because after all, there was a party in the USA. Come Friday, Perry Hall/White Marsh residents will too have the opportunity to throw their hands in the air, if they're looking for something new to do, because there will be a party on The Avenue. OK, so it's actually called Party on the Plaza, and it's not exactly "new." After 15 years however, most people probably know it best as The Avenue concert series. (And it's hard to find a word that rhymes with plaza.) …

If you ride a bike and have never done the Rolling Thunder, I would suggest you go. There is no shame in having tears in your eyes when crossing the Memorial bridge, and believe me, you will. If anyone wants details or ideas/tips on the ride day, let me know and ill be glad to share my experiences over the past few years   more ›

The Perry Hall singing group will participate in the museum's Pay It Forward fund-raiser on May 22.

They've even performed for WJZ-13's Manic Monday segment on multiple occasions. And now, they're using their lovely voices for charity. Chapel Hill Elementary School's sing group The Sensations will perform at Port Discovery Children's Museum Pay It Forward fund-raiser on May 22. This is not specific to Chapel Hill, but parents holding cameras and camcorders with LCD screens up high was bad enough for those sitting behind them - now they use iPads. Please be considerate of the distraction these things cause.   more ›

Freshman Marlee Forsyth was picked as one of 56 student performers in the Camp Broadway Kids’ New York Pops 30th Birthday Gala.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Ask 14-year-old Marlee Forsyth. The Perry Hall freshman was one of 56 student-performers selected to sing and dance at the iconic theatre for Camp Broadway Kids’ New York Pops 30th Birthday Gala. “I was just really happy to be a part of everything,” Forsyth said. “It was a magical weekend.” Forsyth is an aspiring singer-actress who has performed in all three of Perry Hall High School’s stage shows including the fall play A Shot In The Dark, the spring musical How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and the school’s first dinner theatre production of Our Town. “Take everything you can get, that’s always been my motto,” Forsyth said. WATCH: Flash Mob on The Avenue at White Marsh

All eyes were on Dancemoves Studio of Dance Saturday evening.

Behold the power of pink. Foot traffic on The Avenue at White Marsh was brought to a standstill Saturday evening, with all eyes focused on a coordinated dance routine orchestrated by Dancesmove Studio of Dance. The flash mob lasted all of 3 minutes, but the visual of 20 grown men struggling for synergy to the tune of Whitney Houston's "I wanna dance with somebody" will last for... ever? FYI—this is exactly the kind of video we'd love to see pop up in our Neighborhood Gallery. Add your photos and videos to the Perry Hall Neighborhood Gallery. Loved all the photos. It's nice to see young people dressed so well, but so many of the outfits were cut off in the photos, you couldn't see them. Hopefully, the full length gowns will make a comeback as most young ladies wear the short dresses to regular dances now. Prom is special!   more ›
