I'll bet the Cream of Crab camp is being supported by the Got Milk? lobby.
Seriously, for me it is Maryland Crab Soup. There are so many variations that really hit the spot - with beef or without, same with bacon, more tomatoey, less tomatoey, on and on.
But then, I don't really care for Cream of anything...

For me it is Maryland Crab Soup too.... if you have to pick an official choice.
But try mixing a cup of each together....... lightens up the cream and has a GREAT taste! Many restaraunts are actually offering the mix on their menu now!
