Del. Szeliga: Your Help is Needed Now

Tired of having one political party control Maryland? Sick of having your voice and vote silenced by Big Government? Take action NOW!

We have an opportunity to send a message to the leadership of this State that their gerrymandered and egregious redistricting map will NOT stand! We need and value a two party system - this is bad government and partisan politics at it's worst. Currently, Maryland's new Congressional Districts are ranked among the most gerrymandered in the nation.

Ten years ago Maryland had 4 Democrats and 4 Republicans in Congress. After two partisan redistricting efforts, they have changed the make up to 2 Republicans and 6 Democrats. If the current map stands, the liberal Democrat leadership in Maryland is hoping to defeat Rep. Roscoe Bartlett and leave us with only one Republican in DC - Rep. Andy Harris.  (Please help Roscoe Bartlett in his campaign efforts - Let's not leave Andy out there all alone.)

Here is how you can help:

Visit www.mdpetitions.com and sign the petition to put the Redistricting Map on the ballot in November 2012.  Remember to follow the directions on the website carefully! We need 50,000 signatures by the June 30th deadline.

Please share this with your friends, family members and co-workers, the time to act is NOW!

Good luck Kathy. You are trying to re-take some control of a state where more and more of the citizens enjoy a never ending list of benefits paid for by the government sponsored tax base. Those citizens enjoying their free lunch overwhelmingly vote Democrat to maintain the status quo. Taxes keep increasing on citizens with jobs, but they put up with it because the alternative is to leave the state and go find a job somewhere else. Not an easy thing to do these days. The Democrats have their huge voter base, and they have the middle class of MD right where they want them. Obama's "share the wealth" plan is alive and well in MD!

Kathy, what is good for the goose ..........

I would support non-gerrymandered districts, but only if done nationwide. I will not support attempts to pick off one Democratic state. Is it okay in Republican states where they do the exact same thing or is it just a democratic idea? I know your answer, you are only worried about Maryland. And I am sure that if Republicans controlled the state you wouldn't employ the exact same tactics?

It annoys me to no end that Republican and Democratic politicians in all states see politics as a sport where the ends justify the means.

Pretty much agree with Paul A here.

Gerrymandering has been going on for generations, but it doesn't make it any less corrupt.

Barlett can't even get his own financial disclosures up to date. How is this guy supposed to represent the taxpayers fiscal interests when he can't even get a handle on his own?
