PHHS Indoor Track & Field

Well the 2012/13 Indoor Track Season ended Tuesday with the last of the Regions State Championships. And while Perry Hall didn’t come away with a lot of top placements, they did extremely well for only participating in a handful of events. The Boys Team placed 6th out of 31 teams and the Girls placed 27th out of 34 teams.

A big congrats goes out to Senior Vincent Ciattei for doing what he does best, becoming the 4A State Champion in both the 1600m and 3200m run. Oh and yes he set a new State/4A record in the 1600m (4:14.61).

Senior Michaela Olson was the girl’s top finisher tying for 5th in the pole vault with a personal best of 8 feet 6 inches, simply outstanding. Junior Skylar Moore provided points with her 8th place finish in the 3200m run. Senior Thelma Ejimofor turned in a season best time in the 55m dash. And the Girls 4x800m Relay Team Michelle Krach (11), Anna Ciattei (10), Jessica Yau (11), and Cassidy Coates (10) pulled in a strong 9th place finish.

Junior Noah Pennington tied for 7th in the pole vault. The Boys 4x800m Relay Team Jordan Coates (12), Chris Vitek (12), Bart Allen (12) and Jose Cruz (12) placed 5th with a season best time. Boys 4x200m Relay Team Richard Nwokeji(12), Roger Bagley (11), Patrick Alluisi (12) and Brian Jaffe (11) placed 8th.

As the door closes on Indoor, Perry Hall is gearing up to start 2013 Outdoor season on March 1st.  So tighten your laces and look out, Perry Hall Athletes are chomping at the start line.

1600m is about 30 feet short of a mile - that is an incredible time, liklely one of the fastest in the country this year?

What was the 2nd place time? It is likely he had to push himself to do this.

Don't know how to describe his running other then to say that Vince has his runs mapped out within his head, is able to adjust to unexpected runners attempting to best him. Constantently calculating laps and when to make his move. Once he makes his move, he is fully committed and doesn't look back. A video of his 1600m run is on the tracks facebook page.

Sounds like he will be a runner to be reckoned with in college. That pace is a bit under 4 minutes for 1500m. Has he run in any major indoor meets, such as in Philly or New York?

I believe his dad said that he is planning on running the mile in March at the NB Indoor Nationals in New York.
