Talking State of the State, Flush and Gas Taxes

Jobs, a gas and flush tax and same-sex marriage were some of the more ambitious items highlighted by Gov. Martin O'Malley during his State of the State address last week.

In this morning's installment of Annapolis Week on MarylandReporter.com, I join Len Lazarick, the site's editor and publisher, and Joel McCord of WYPR to break down the speech and the governor's initiatives.

What busness is it of the state to be in the marriage business? If people of either sex wish to share their lives, for a period or for life, it should be up to them and not some government bureaucracy.

Why can't they cut back on some of their wages like it has happened elsewhere so they don't need to raise gas tax or even get rid of flush tax. I have septic system and i pay to have it pumped out. It just gets harder and harder on retired people living in Maryland. Why can't they use lottery money and use it for some good liek other states do. New Maryland logo. If you think fo it We Tax it.

The same sex marriage seems to me the most discussed topic of the week for sure... I wonder where we are heading... it is now recommended to say parent 1 and parent 2 instead of mother and father because some children may have two mothers or two dads... this all is so absurd indeed...
