The 6th Annual 2012 Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk is scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m., with the 1 Mile Walk kicking off at 8:15 a.m. The race, which is professionally managed by Charm City Run, attracts over 1,200 participants. Awards are given for the top three male and female 5K finishers overall, as well as the top three male and female runners in all age categories. Random prizes awarded (must be present to win). All participants receive a complimentary premium t-shirt, water on the course, and post-race refreshments. Trophies for largest team, most money raised by an individual and most money raised by a team. After decades of planning, the Seven Oaks Senior Center opened on October 2, 1991. Under the direction of the Baltimore County Department of Aging Services, the Center provides activities, programs and services to local residents age 60 and older. Regularly scheduled activities include low-impact aerobics, crafts, cards, decoy carving, strength training, knitting and crocheting, senior rhythms chair exercise, bingo, ballroom dancing, quilting, yoga, ceramics, vocal, stained glass, aquatics and walking. Lessons are also provided for computers, painting, drawing and square dancing.
